<p>Honestly no, but from hanging out on CC and having done research for both FSU & UF. I have found academically overall UF is an all around excellent school. Since you’re planning on going into the health field w psychology I know UF would be a better option. I also looked at rankings and UF ranked a lot higher than FSU for psychology. </p>

<p>Actually, any is better. UF is 45th in rankings, and FSU is 50th. It all depends as to where you want to go, to be honest.</p>

<p>Why not come down and visit? Gainesville and Tally aren’t that far from each other. You can visit both and see which one feels better.</p>
<p>I’m from North Carolina and so that’s about ten hours away. I can’t just hop in my car and go but I do plan on visiting in the summer time. How far apart is Gainesville and Tallahassee ?</p>
<p>Well, I don’t think that person was implying that you should just drop everything and go. Just stating that when you do start to make your final decision on which uni you should eventually choose.
You can visit both easily when you do arrive in FL as both are not too far from each other. I think travel time is about 2-3 hours between the uni’s. </p>

<p>About 2 hours and 20 minutes from campus to campus. I have kids at both, so I’ve made the drive many times :)</p>

<p>I wasn’t addressing the validity of US News or any other ranking. You claimed Machen was gaming the reported PA scores, and, as any freshman student of statistics will tell you, that is not mathematically possible. You also imply some sort of sinister behavior on the part of Machen because you personally don’t agree with his survey results, but neglect to mention that the FSU president’s survey couldn’t be made public at all because he claimed to have lost it (!!).</p>
<p>The ratings are a joke, having garnered far too much significance attached by those unwilling to ferret out real worth; a point with which Dr. Machen and I agree. </p>
<p>Machen’s individual ratings were made public and he was called onto the figurative public opinion carpet by the editors of the Times. I agree with the opinion of the Times in this instance.</p>
<p>I rather doubt you cast much weight on the ratings either, seeing how U Miami has been elevated and UF dropped.</p>

<p>President Bernie Mac sure seemed to think it was possible. Based on the fact that peer assessment counts for a staggering 25 percent of the USNWR rankings, I don’t see any reason to disagree with him.</p>
<p>Sweetheartcroc: source please where Machen stated he believed he could manipulate the PA rankings with his response. Math question for you: to how many significant digits would the PA have to be reported before Machen’s response would have significance given 2000 respondents?</p>
