UF or FSU?

Please discuss anything related to 'em. I’ve heard that even though UF is ranked higher, FSU has more opportunities and more serious students than UF. In other words, I’ve been hearing UF is overrated, and FSU is underrated.

PLEASE discuss

i don't think so.
uf: sat range 1140-1340 79% in top10%of hs
fsu:1050-1250 55% top10% (pton review; maybe accurate in this kind of stat)

looking at these stats alone, uf's students are on average more qualified, and probably more serious in academic matters.

also, i've heard fsu is more of a party school than uf is.

Consensus opinion around here is that UF is tougher to get into and better overall academics.

FSU has a great music program....but UF has ranked programs in many more areas. UF is second only to Harvard in the number of national merit finalists enrolled in this years freshman class...GPA's average over 4.0 (weighted)...SATS average 1300...79% in top 10% of HS class....all indications are that there are very capable students at UF.

Just ask yourself...Bobby Bowden or Urban Meyer?

good thinking alicantekid. That has a lot to do with academics.....

guys, if a school's intelligence is measured just by their students SAT and GPA, st john's, one of the most intellectual schools in the country, would be ranked below schools like UF

i was looking for specific info..i guess nobody has it :(

well i'm going to be attending FSU in the fall... from what i have heard it is an underrated school. their business program ranks something like 39, but UF's ranks 28. the thing is.. UF is the number one public school in florida and FSU is second. unfortunately.. they don't get as much funding as UF, but hopefully that will change in the future.

i don't know exactly what you want to hear.. there are intelligant people everywhere, or they would not be accepted. now which one has the most intelligant.. i don't know? one thing to look at however, is that 20% of FSU's students are from out-of-state. out of those 20%.. they have much higher GPA's and ACT/SAT scores b/c it is much much harder to get into the school coming from out of state.. since lets face it, a lot of people want to go to florida.

another thing to point out is that being from ohio i was surprised at the number of people that were applying to FSU from my school (8 that i know of). when i asked about UF, they said naww.. they liked FSU's location better or hadn't even heard of UF. i think FSU is known more in the midwest (or at least at my school) than UF. also what surprised me was that these students applying to FSU from my school have like 4.1 GPAs and 26 ACT and aren't even sure if they will even get into FSU and not even considering UF.

actually, st. johns has a pretty high sat-range: 1260-1450.
i believe the class ranks and sat scores of the students at a school are pretty important, since the quality of a school (quality of instruction, faculty's ability to teach, etc.) is difficult to measure accurately.
the students play an important role in forming the atmosphere of a school.
i doubt a school that admits just about any student regardless of qualification will offer a quality education. even if the faculty is knowledgeable, it is no use if the students are not studious or do not understand the instructions.

The reality is your question is far too subjective and you will get no meaningful answers. I'm not sure what you were expecting. UF...on average...has better programs and students than FSU. Of course, that does not mean UF is better than FSU for any particular student in any particular major....far from it. Do well at either school, and you will get into a fine graduate program or professional school.
