I’m currently trying to decide between going to UF and UGA in the fall for my undergrad education.
At UGA i’d major in animal health (and most likely also biology).
At UF I’d major in Biology (maybe animal sci).
I love them both, but just wanted some opinions on where I should go.
The price is not a problem.
thanks so much.
Is there a way for you to visit both (or even one) before you make up your mind? In all honestly both are good options. So there isn’t much drawback of going to one over the other. At this point it’s about “fit”, and only you can say what fits.
I’ve been to them both and I love them, which is why I’m struggling so much.
Both have very good Animal Sci programs (and Biology), so you can’t go wrong with either.
They are very similar, both have a large % of in-state students and are based in great college towns. UGA will feel a bit more southern, while UF will be a bit more casual. UF is a larger (33K vs 26K undergrads and 16K grads vs 8K), but not that it would matter much in the Animal Sciences/Biology programs.
If you want to work in Georgia/Atlanta after college, you may want to lean toward UGA. If you want to work in Florida, lean more towards Florida. However, lots of Gators live and work in Atlanta, while lots of Bulldogs live in Florida.
Good Luck!
