UF or UM for economics?

Hello, I am applying to both UF and UM(In Coral Gables) this year. I want to go into banking, finance, and stock/investing and thus major in economics with a minor in mathematics to make sure I get all the essential math classes in. I know it is a competitive field, but I am set on this, and I want to make the most of opportunities. As much as I like engineering, I know this is the field for me. I have seen some career placement charts from graduates into the finance field, MBA schools, and grad schools in econ. UF seems to be better than UM, but I do not know. I honestly see myself at either school, and I feel very strongly that I will get into both. So it really comes down to which school prepares better for solid work experience/grad and business admissions.

Can any current students tell me their opinions on the economics program at UF vs UM? I am in no way biased towards UM or UF at this point other than my upbringing and classic stereotypes I have seen. Is the program known for being rigorous or giving students high GPAs? How about MBA programs? Any opinion or fact is appreciated.

Thank you, I look forward to reading.

i’ve never seen UM’s economics department ranked. UF’s generally ranked around 50th in the country, but that really only applies for phd level stuff.

i’ve also never tried to find UM’s ranking. but i am more or less confident that it isn’t highly ranked.

and this says nothing about their finance department, which i know absolute nothing about. UF’s is pretty good.

we have either the #1 or #2 online MBA program in the world from what i understand though. that doesn’t really mean much in terms of undergrad i imagine.
