UF PACE / online classes

I have read much on the UF site about the PaCE program. Basically it says that because of the lack of housing the student would have been selected to be a resident student and have all the benefits thereof.

If the student is only accepted as PaCE that means he must take online classes starting ONLY in the fall of 2019 and can not start taking summer classes.

  1. Why if the classes are “ONLINE” cant the student take them during the Summer session?
  2. If the student does accept the invitation to attend UF via the PaCE program is he/she limited to ONLY the Majors listed in the PaCE or can the student do something to Major in something more specialized. For example, It appears that the only option for a Business Major is to get a “GENERAL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION” degree yet if you are a Resident Student you have many more options within the Business School.
  3. We purchased Florida Prepaid when our son was very young and he also qualifies for Bright Futures. We have been in contact with both entities and have been informed that he can use one of the programs towards dorm fees. So, If he accepts the PaCE program and thus must live off campus does any of those funds get provided to pay for his housing?
  4. Is there any preference by UF to give higher paying tuition from out of state students preference to being a Resident Student over a instate student getting instate lower tuition fees?
    Thank you.

You have to be in the program online for at least 2 semesters so fall/spring before you can transition. It is possible to take courses elsewhere in summer, just not at UF

If a student accepts PaCE then they can only transition into a PaCE major.

Prepaid goes first, bright futures pays other fees second and then the leftover money is deposited into the student’s bank account

No residency preference in admission.

Thank you. What I am not fully understanding is if a student is offered PaCE because UF says there is not enough housing to give to all new students can the PaCE student start taking online classes and then when the student becomes a resident student enter into a major that is more specialized as it appears the PaCE business major is limited to just Administration.

Not enough space isn’t housing related but availability of classes vs admitted campus students. He is an admitted Gator. The other business majors are limited enrollment but there is only a few classes that are different between them and general business administration. Your son should reach out to the business advisor to talk about the programs who can go over the specifics.
