who else got this? and how much did you get?

I guess not many got this.

Where does it say that you got it?

I received it in the mail... today. Says "Congratulations! You have been selected as a recipient of the University's Presidential Scholarship because of your superior academic performance in high school." Blah Blah Blah.. yawns It's a merit-based scholarship, I suppose. i didn't get a lot though. Ugh.

I think you have to be a National Merit/Achievement Scholar or qualify for the Honors Program (1400+) to even be considered. I am not sure.

Did you already respond that you'll be attending UF? When was it dated? What does it offer?

No, I did not respond. It is dated March 4th. UF is not my top choice. I only applied because I was using it as a "safety" school. I have to accept the scholarship in a matter of 30 days. Accepting this scholar is "not a binding commitment to enroll" so I will accept,

We did Fridays with Honors this past Friday and the University seems to want to take good care of you. Between the AP/IB classes that you bring and the Honors classes you end up with very few if any of the huge freshman seminars. The special counseling you get seems to be the best feature. What type of superior high school performance are we talking about for the Presidential Scholarship?

J'adoube... why are you saying the Uni. wants to take good care of me? And your 2nd sentence makes no sense to me.. maybe it's because it's 2:00 AM... maybe not. And as for the rest of your comments... huh??

I thought you might be familiar with the Honors Program at UF. Since you are not, disregard comments. In any case, I didn't mean you specifically, but the Honors student in general (and yes it is late, actually almost 3 DST).

It's a scholarship for black people

Does the University offer other scholarships for "superior academic performance in high school" besides the $1000 for National Merit?

I know of no scholarships UF will just throw at you like the other state schools. They offer very few.

No, only scholarships for minorities and national merit. Many departments offer scholarships to high performing students in their department, but those usually go to upperclassmen.

My friend has about the same SAT scores, same class rank, and same GPA as me, but she didn't get it.. And yes, she is black as well...

Hmmmm.
