UF Preview Dates

I just received the email about registering for Preview and it only gave two session dates that were on Tuesday and Wednesday. Is that unusual? What does a student do if both of their parents are working or only live with a single parent who works? Also, are the dates usually in mid summer? I thought I saw somewhere that Preview was in May and early July.

Are you a transfer student/HS student with an AA)? Summer B freshman had Preview in May (I believe), The rest of the Freshman have it in June (or later). Students with AA’s had only a few dedicated Preview sessions. This is from memory (and a few years ago), so it may have been changed slightly since then…

EDIT: Parents are OPTIONAL at preview. You can attend by yourself (as long as you have transportation, etc.)

Yes, I am a dual high school AA student. I did not realize that I would be limited to only two sessions due to being a dual student. It just makes it very inconvenient that it isn’t on the weekend.

Yep, Preview can be a pain, but it’s mandatory.

@Gator88NE I’m graduating with my AA and 90 credits total, but I have several options for Preview and they are all on the weekends and towards the end of June and early July (I was admitted Feb 10th as a freshman)? Also, I’m trying to switch from Fall to Summer (when I called about switching they said it would be highly probable), but I still only have the option to register for Fall previews. They told me they wouldn’t be able to officially switch the term until May which means that I’d be registering for Summer B preview REALLY late (basically right before). Will I still get a good pick on my classes? I wish I could just register for preview now but I guess switching terms puts me at a disadvantage.

On a separate note, in your opinion, do you think switching from Fall to Summer B is a good idea?

In general the kids that take Summer B, like it. Less pressure and it’s a bit easier to make Friends. It’s really a personal choice.

Don’t worry about picking your classes, they release slots in classes throughout preview. It’s not first come first serve.

@madisonskipper I wonder why we had different dates if we both have roughly the same amount of credits. I was admitted as a freshman as well.

@Melissa96

I’m thinking @madisonskipper did not indicate that that he/she is a HS/AA student. Those students gets very special advising which is why they end up in one preview session.

I really did indicate that! I actually have two other friends who are graduating with their AA degrees AND have been admitted to UF for the Fall as well. They have the same issue with the preview dates as I do. I’m going to call and confirm with them anyways just to make sure though now that you’ve said that. Gonna update on here when I finally get all this sorted out but… long story short: dual enrolling on top of requesting a term change makes things pretty complicated.

It would really be nice if they had a special advising session for AA students though!
@Melissa96

Update: I was indicated as an HS AA student within their system BUT I was not seeing the right dates for the specific AA preview, which is apparently a big problem they’re having but it is an easy fix if you just call them and let them know! My term change was successful from Fall to Summer too, they released a lot of those decisions today.

can any help tell me the 2017 preview dates? help im desperate

@imjustchilling I’m pretty sure when you sign in and register for preview, you’ll see the dates available. Keep in mind that they have different dates for Freshman who start Summer B, Freshman who start Spring 2018 (innovation academy), Pace freshman, and Freshman starting in the Fall 2017.
