I am a bit discouraged about getting into UF, for the reason that many people make it seem as if it's admission officers are "unpredictable." Can anyone tell me, from first hand experience, if this is true? Would I have a decent chance of getting in?
SAT- 1870 M-700 CR-610 W-560 (I plan on retaking it)
gpa- 3.6/4.4
AP courses that I have already taken or am currently enrolled in- APUSH, AP English Language and Composition, and AP physchology
AP courses I plan on taking- AP U.S. government and politics, AP calulus ab, AP physics, and ap chemistry
Over my years of high school, there is an increasing pattern with my gpa, if this is relevant
freshman year- 3.1 soph-3.7 junior-3.7 (unweighted)
Intended major is mechanical engineering. Currently a junior
Feed-back would be very much appreciated

It can be unpredictable. They put a lot of emphasis on EC’s, so having high stats isn’t a guarantee. Of course it’s not as hard to get into as the Ivies, but it’s still competitive. If that 4.4 GPA you have is the UF calculated weighted GPA, then that part of your application is competitive. Your SAT is below average, but not necessarily low enough to exclude you. A 2000+ would make you a better applicant. But as I said before, you need lots of ECs, preferably some with some leadership positions. Good luck!

UF’s holistic admissions adds a degree of uncertainty to the process.

UF weights 50% of admissions on GPA/Test Scores/Class rigor (with GPA being the most important), and 50% on ECs/Leadership/Essay. Keep your GPA up, retake the SAT (UF super scores the test), make sure you’re doing "something (volunteer, work, etc…especially this up coming summer), and do your best on the essay, you should have a solid shoot at admissions.

Good Luck!

My super score is 1910, but I still plan on retaking it
