Hey! Back when UF was having their first regular decision (before November 1st), my SAT and ACT scores were really low, and so I decided not to apply because I knew I wouldn't be able to get in. But I brought my ACT up to a 28 and my SAT up to a 1220/1850. I was looking at their stats, and both of those were in the middle 50% of the freshman class this year. Also, my weighted gpa right now is a 3.8 (I know it's not that high), but I have like five AP classes this year and I'm getting a lot of A's and B's in them, so I'm hoping to bring that up to over a 4.0. The reason for the not-so-great gpa is because I was dealing with some personal issues my freshman and sophomore year, which really messed me up. :/ But now I'm back on track and I'll have taken 9 AP classes by the time I graduate. I also live about 45 minutes away from my high school and don't have a car, which means I still have to take the bus. I could not participate in many school activities these 4 years. I do, however, volunteer for my church and take part in such activies very very often. Does that look good to them?

Also, I know that this time around is going to be even harder than the first decision because they only have a few slots left. Do any of you guys know how many applicants from the second decision usually get admitted? My friend also had a very good idea that I could apply for the summer term instead of the fall one. I'd be very happy going there this summer if that was what it took for me to get accepted.

Sorry this was so long, but I'll appreciate any responses and advice I can get! <3

From everything I know, UF got rid of their RD decisions. Now you have to have your application in by that Nov. 1 deadline. They say on their website that they will still accept applications past then, but admission will be on a limited space available situation. So, I imagine that unless you have incredible stats (application), you probably do not have much of a chance. UF has something like 20,000+ students apply for only about 5500 freshman slots. So … realistically, if you applied after Nov 1, yours chances are slim to none, I would say. Perhaps, if this is your first choice school, you could transfer in afer getting your AA at a community college. Not sure what your goals were as I haven’t read everything you’ve written.

What if I was to apply for the summer term? Is it still just about impossible?

I also applied to UCF and FSU and would be very happy attending either one of those, but UF is a very good school and I think it would be great to go there. If not, it’s no big deal. I can either go to one of the other two.

But yeah, I’d like to go to UF if I could get in.

BTW … I do have a D at UF, but I also have an S at UCF. He absolutely loves it there. So, if you get into that school, I’d seriously consider it. Good luck, wherever you end up!

Zebes- Nice! I have a lot of friends that go there too who absolutley love it as well. I got accepted back in October, so that’s definetly an option. It’s just that I live in the panhandle area and Orlando is 8 hours away and my parents think that is too far, so they really want me to go to FSU, but I got deferred. Is your S in the honors college? I’ve been beginning to look into that at both schools since UF isn’t looking too great. Haha.

hsmloverrx,
Honestly, I have no idea. I’m sorry. I think I saw somewhere in the UCF forum that the average SAT for last year’s class accepted into Burnett was 1370/1600. I just don’t know … Perhaps you might try that forum and ask current students if they have more info.
