UF roommate referrals?

<p>OK I will admit that I am putting the cart ahead of the horse. But that is the way I am. Always thinking ahead and planning ahead.</p>

<p>Do anyone of you know if U of F has a roommate referral service? My son hopefully will be going to UF this fall. And none of his friends are applying. I was curious if such a program existed?</p>

<p>If it does not? Maybe it should?</p>

<p>For example my son is going to study engineering. He is going to want to party and have a blast as much as possible. But at the same time he realizes that while he is taking calculas, chem, physics and the rest of the tough engineering clases. He will need to study quite a bit.</p>

<p>If such a service existed? They could pair him up with another engineering student. Instead of taking a chance of him ending up with someone that has an easier class load allowing his roommate more time for partying. This could present a problem?</p>

<p>Once he gets in, your son could use the facebook app roombug, which lets you do sort of what you just described. There are certain criteria that you can put into the app to describe yourself and your preferred roommate, and then it matches you up. you just have to contact the other person to see if they want to be roommates.</p>

<p>but also, there are the living-learning communities, which is really good to match up people with similar interests. I think there is even one for engineering.</p>
