I saw the Fall 2013 thread, which is still alive, so I figured I might as well start a thread for Spring 2014 instead of hijacking that thread! I applied to the Warrington College of Business for a Marketing degree. I sent my application May 2nd and they had everything by May 15th. My current status stays "Your application for admission to the University of Florida for the Spring 2014 term has been received and is being evaluated. Once your grade point average is calculated and your eligibility is confirmed, your application will be sent to your college for a final decision." I'm thinking that within the next month or so the status's will change for early Spring applications. I get butterflies just thinking of seeing the words "accepted" haha. Good luck to everyone!

I applied for the spring 2014 a week ago so my thing still says wait 2-4 weeks. I applied as a junior transfer from FIU and I applied as a sociology major. My stats arent that high and I didnt take the SAT because I got into FIU with only my ACT and I got a 19 (not UF standard of good but yea)

If you’re applying as a transfer(especially as a junior) they won’t even look at your SAT/ACT scores so don’t worry. All they care about is what you’ve done since entering college.

Yeah, they don’t look at SAT/ACT scores. I think they only want them if you are applying to the school of education. Otherwise, if you did good on them it wouldn’t hurt to add them.

Also, just a heads up, if you send something like a transcript and they don’t receive it within a few weeks I would call them. I waited 2 weeks for them to update and show my high school transcripts as received. I called them and they told me that it was never attached to my application, but the guy found it. As soon as he updated it, I checked my application status and it show “Received”.

One question for transfers, I’m taking two classes over the summer that are req’s (economics and statistics). I don’t think they will have a decision by August, so would it be OK to resend a transcript or would it be too late if it has already been sent to my College?

I would send transcripts anytime you get new grades on there. Although your grade in those courses likely wont be factored into their decision (depending on when you hear back from them), they still want to know that it’s in progress. I was accepted for Fall 2013, and I applied with 8 courses either in progress or that will be completed before first day of classes. Just send transcripts as soon as you receive your summer grades.

Does anyone know if its hard to get into the sociology major (CLAS) there?
I called and I found out that it isn’t limited access and it isn’t over enrolled so does that make it easier to get into?

Relatively, yes. Still not “easy,” but you have a better shot.

I don’t know if UF is just slow or what, but as of today I am accepted to USF and UCF (pending final transcript review for UCF) and I applied to them like 1 week after UF because obviously, UF is my first choice. I plan on sending my info and transcripts to FSU in late August just for giggles. I’m just REALLY surprised that I got my application accepted in a month from USF and UCF…

Hello,

I am applying as a Finance major. I still have 10 classes to complete before December, and currently enrolled in 4 and the other 6 will be the fall term. My current G.P.A is 3.516. I will send my application before July.

Does anyone know…if I reapply for spring after being denied for Fall (I’m going to try for a different major) am I going to need to send all my transcripts and all again?

@TripleX, did you have a question?

@agmama, I can’t remember if I had to or not, but I would resend them just in case.

@agmama - you would only need to send updated transcripts - for instance if you took classes in the spring then you should send admissions a new transcript with your spring grades.

Thanks Melissa,
I updated when spring grades posted, but summer will be done by the time I apply for spring. I’m still trying to decide if I’m going to bother or not. The one major I really want to try for (and wanted to begin with, but went with a different one because of fewer prereq classes) is going to require 4 prereq more prereq classes and I doubt they’re going to accept me with 4 of them in progress.

Hey! I’m applying for Spring Transfer for Business!
I still have to complete 2 prereqs this fall, should submit my app now?

Chance me?

Im applying too…

Chance me please?:0

@Change32 yes I would definitely apply now. They give you an area on the application to put classes you are taking/will take to complete your degree. I had 5 classes on my list (4 of which are pre-reqs, but i just completed 2 prereqs for the summer so I resent my transcripts to reflect my new ‘A’ grades). I called them about this and they said to keep resending after you receive a new grade. Even after the university sends it off to the specific college within the university you can still submit your transcripts so that college will see the new grade.

@marianna0725 I think your chances are pretty great honestly. I think the math program is quite competitive to get into and very demanding, in fact I think it’s one of the limited access programs (someone correct me if I’m wrong). Just one question, how did you send your letters of recommendation? I didn’t see any area on the application saying how to send one. If I saw how to send one I definitely would have sent at least two!

Did you guys write an essay for the application?? I’m going to apply for Chemistry - Biochemistry…

Also, since English isn’t my first language I’m being asked to submit TOEFL scores…even though I attended all high school here and have 2 years of college I’m hoping that my 5 year old SATs and ACTs will be good enough to satisfy this requirement. Do you guys know anything about this?

I am also a foreign national and want to apply to UF next year… So UF wont accept 6 college level credits in English as proficiency in English? Did an Advisor tell you this? Just curious

Test90, I’m sorry I got confused, I thought this was a thread for USF and my post was regarding USF.

But I went ahead and looked that up just to be sure. This is from UF’s website regarding English Proficiency Requirements:
Exemptions: International students are exempt from the English proficiency requirement if enrolled for one academic year in a degree-seeking program at a recognized/regionally accredited university or college in a country where English is the official language prior to your anticipated term of enrollment at UF…

So if you have 6 credits in English and you are looking to transfer I’d assume you’ve studied at a state college for a year. Otherwise you would have to submit TOEFL scores.

Okay, thank you for clarifying
Yeah I think I still have my TOEFL with a score of 100 laying around, so this shouldnt be an issue either way

But thank you :)
