UF Spring 2019 Transfer

Hello! I just applied to UF spring 2019 yesterday as an English major. This major is in CLAS, so I heard this might take longer for my results to come back, is this true?

Credits: I have a 3.5 GPA now, but by the time I enroll I should have a 3.8. I currently have finished 35 credits, so I need 25 more. I am currently taking 9 credits this summer, and I will finish at my public university in the fall with 16 more.

My plan is to get a masters degree in education and to one day teach English around the world to children and teens. I have had plenty of activities, jobs, clubs and even some teaching experiences. I’ve been waiting to transfer for over a year now and can finally apply! Please let me know if you have any advice or you think I’ll get in!

Go Gators!

CLAS should not take a great deal of time ( a few weeks or so) after all of your transcripts are received.

I actually have a 3.6 GPA! and I forgot to mention that I will have my prerequisites finished by the time I’d transfer. my application status changed today, it turns out that UF has all of my documents and are getting ready to send it them CLAS. I’m so nervous! So it seems as though I only have a couple of weeks till I know! Thanks @Melissa96

PLEASE chance me!

My bf applied in early June as well and we’re waiting to hear back. Last week he emailed them asking them how long and they estimated 4-8 weeks till we know! Your app sounds really good, especially with extracurriculars. Good luck! I hope we hear back soon…

Thank you! I emailed them as well and they said they are waiting on my summer semester grades. I just sent them (all A’s!) so hopefully that means all is well. I hope he hears back soon as well! @BellaElsa95

Has anyone heard back yet? I applied on August 13th and haven’t gotten any updates

Nope! I applied in June. I’ve been calling them for the last two weeks to check on it, but they keep putting it off. Apparently their system is updating so they won’t start looking at spring transfers until next week. Thats what they said for my department anyways… Honestly you have nothing to worry about. Based off of what I read, it normally takes a month for them to get back to you anyways. I just applied really really early thats why its taking so long for me. If you don’t hear from them by next week you might want to call. @faithandpatience

So I called again today and got a different response. Apparently they will start next week, not this week.

I applied in June, and have been waiting for a response for the past 4 weeks after I sent my summer grades. Every time I call, they say their system is updating and put me off another week. UF is my #1 dream school, so I’m willing to wait but if you’re still awaiting for a response this is probably why.

@Wingchaser my application status changed to it has been “recieved and is being evaluated”. Has your application been referred yet?

Application submitted on 7/25, referred to CLAS on 8/1, and accepted on 8/30. I was a little surprised because I just sent my updated transcripts this morning.

3.66 GPA (Straight As for three semesters in a row)

Congratulations be gator!!! Pray for the rest of us please! @liscsa

New* lol @liscsa

Application submitted to CLAS on 08/18/18. I have not heard anything from them since. I have receipts that they have received all of my transcripts but I’m kind of concerned since they received them nearly two weeks ago and they still show as unprocessed when I check on the status of my application.

Stats:

Current Institution: Florida State College of Jacksonville
Overall GPA: 3.02 (explained in essay)
Pre-Prof GPA: 4.0
Intended major: International Studies

I did my freshman year at an out of state college where I was a physics major. It beat me up and I left with a 1.57 GPA. I got all As when I completed my AA at FSCJ including getting a 4.0 Pre-Prof GPA. Hopefully UF values improvement in their admissions process. On top of that I have some creative writing that was published when I was younger and 3 years of work experience (although not related to my major, sadly). UF is my first choice.

I am happy to announce that I WAS ACCEPTED INTO UF yesterday! I have a feeling it came through on Friday, but I was told that I wouldn’t find out until next week! I woke up and checked to find it updated, and I was in! I don’t know if you’ve seen my posts, but I have been waiting to get into Florida for a while and have been planning on transferring since my first semester as a college student. Since then, I have worked my butt off and have done everything I could to get into my dream school.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll want some tips:

  • Take as many credits per semester that you can in order to get your AA so you can apply. This helps you get to UF faster, and it makes you a more competitive student. I have many peers at my current university who took the minimum amount of credits and they aren't eligible to transfer until after spring or summer.
  • It takes anywhere between 1 - 3 weeks for them to send your transcripts to be evaluated by your college. Waiting sucks but thats a huge process when applying here as a transfer. -They don't email you when your application is ready if you're a transfer. Check it yourself as often as you can.
  • Get the best grades possible (you'd think this is obvious but I've seen some things), also know that you should really get involved with your current school. They need to see what you are bringing to the table at their university.
  • Apply AS SOON AS YOU CAN! Admissions for transfers is rolling so the sooner, the better. I talked with some UF advisors and they said they received more applications this year... meaning its harder to get in since they only have so many spots to fill. -CALL THEM. I was always scared I was being annoying, but they know we are nervous, and it shows that you care.
  • Stay focused! I have a lot of friends at my current university who say they want to transfer, but they don't put the work in and that sets them back. If you have the dream to transfer and better yourself then do it! Ive never committed to anything more in my life, and its paid off!

GO GATORS!!!

@Wingchaser Congratulations!! I’m so happy for you!! Please keep me and my application in your prayers!

Congratulations. I’m hoping I’ll be able to say the same thing soon.

I just called the admissions office and they said my transcripts haven’t been processed because this is the busiest time of the year for them. They told me to expect an answer “in about 2 months”, which seems like a really long time to me. I’m pretty frustrated so far, especially because FSU has been excellent throughout the process.

@HenryWasRight try calling again and asking them why the transcripts have not been processed. Sometimes you just have to be a little persistent. Just be patient don’t worry!!

I called them earlier today and managed to resolve most of the items. My one outstanding transcript should be processed within the week. I have to say I haven’t been too impressed with the Admissions Office at UF so far. This is in contrast to FSU which has been amazing so far. It’s been like pulling teeth with them, and they always seem impatient. I hope it doesn’t bode for their academic programs.

@HenryWasRight it’s awesome that you were able to get some things resolved! It’s all a process so just hang in there. Will you go to UF if you get accepted or are you still debating between FSU and UF?

Both schools have very similar programs. I would prefer to go to UF and will go if I’m accepted. FSU’s admissions is non-competitive for A.A. transfers so I should get into that regardless.
