Again, the guy was resisting requests from the sponsoring student group to leave. He insisted on asking two questions, even though you're only allowed to ask one. When his minute of questions was cut off, he got upset.

The sponsoring student group called in UF police to remove him. He got upset again, saying "Why are you arresting me?" (well, duh, you refused to leave, just like the UCLA Library Taser incident). Police were able to get him to the back of the auditorium, and then when he STILL refused to cooperate, he got Tasered.

I don't agree with having to Taser the guy to remove him (i mean, 4 police officers could drag him out, I would think), but it's important to remember that the "victims" here did start everything by refusing to leave.

The students were cheering the police officers in getting him away. Taser wasn't necessary, but getting him off the floor was. At least there's another hit registered when you search "student taser incident" on youtube now (try searching "UCLA")

Tasering was a better choice than forcefully removing him from the room. While the taser hurts, it does not give the impression of physical violence being undertaken by the police. The guy was fairly big and active, he wasn't going to leave without alot of "aggressive" help. The taser simply took pounding his ass into plup out of the equation.

I still feel that it was unnecessary to have him removed. In the time they took to drag him around amidst his crazy yelling and the fiasco that ensued they could have allowed him to finish his statement and have Kerry respond to the important issues he brought up. I don't think public forums with politicians were ever meant to be humble, peaceful "chats" like they are nowadays so I don't see something wrong with a guy getting fired up about politics, quite frankly. People should actually be happy to see a youth so involved with politics. I mean, what's this guy gonna do by getting heated up? Shoot Kerry with a verbal bullet? C'mon, he wasn't even cursing, this was ridiculous.

Sad that all the fire is being taken from the people who are truly involved and passionate about politics while the demeanor of the lame nonvoter is being encouraged.

Here's what someone who was actually there said:

The video doesn’t show it, but he wasn’t even supposed to be speaking. He was still in one of the question lines when the announcer said there was only time for 1 more. This guy got mad and ran for one of the unused microphones and interrupted the guy whose turn it was to ask, screaming about why he should be heard and that Kerry has lied all day, blah blah blah. The cops tried to escort him out, but Kerry told them to let him stay. He resisted again the second time they tried to remove him, and that’s what all the videos show. I was sitting a few rows away from him.

From this is looks like he certainly DID deserve to be taken away....

"don't see something wrong with a guy getting fired up about politics, quite frankly."

Are you certain he was fired up about politics or moreso looking for his 15 minutes? What if he figured out if he acted the idiot, he'd be on every tv and internet port the next day?

" People should actually be happy to see a youth so involved with politics."
That's not involved in politics, that's assuming everybody is there to listen to you. BIG difference.

"I mean, what's this guy gonna do by getting heated up?"

Who knows. What a loner aisan kid at VT gonna do? You just don't know.

"C'mon, he wasn't even cursing, this was ridiculous"

Actually he was dropping an fbomb or two, I was able to hear them. I think that is partially why he got tasered.. just before they did in tape I watched he shouted get the f...... off of me... zap!

:) it's hard anymore to figure out if somebody like this guy really cares or is just into grabbing attiention in any form possible? "Look at me! Look at me! I'm in control!" zap! NO. no,your not.

"Just before Monday's scuffle started, Meyer asked a woman to tape his exchange with Kerry. One officer said the woman was "there to film him" and that Meyer asked, "Are you taping this? Do you have this? You ready?" before beginning his question."

"An officer, however, said in the police report that Meyer's "demeanor completely changed once the cameras were not in sight" and that he was "laughing" and "lighthearted" on the way to jail."

The news report also mentioned something about him posting a list of practical jokes or something.

And regarding the thought of political participation -- since when was the question, "were you in the secret society Skull and Bones when you were in college," meaningful?
