Jacey Dykstra's condominium is anything but an average student residence.

The University of Florida sophomore nursing student comes home to 10-foot ceilings, granite countertops, French doors that open onto a private balcony and walls so thick, she never hears any of her more than 80 neighbors.

Only a block from the UF campus, the Jackson Square condo's location allows her to get to class without seeing the inside of a bus.

"It feels more like a home than a standard apartment," says Dykstra, who shares the condo with her sister, Lindsay, a UF law student.

The sisters' father bought them the condo about a year ago, when Jacey lived in the Lakeside dorm. As soon as she graduates, her father plans to resell it - most likely to parents of another UF student.

"He just wanted to invest in a nice place," she says.

Jackson Square, a luxury complex that opened in October on NW 3rd Avenue, a block west of 13th Street, has sold 43 out of its 57 units, said Jackson Square real estate agent and treasurer Eric Wild. All the owners are either UF alumni or parents of UF students, he said.

The same company that owns Jackson Square also owns Saint Charles condos just to the west on NW 15th Street. If Saint Charles is any indication, Wild said he predicts most of the owners will sell as soon as their children graduate. Others will keep the property as a retreat during Gator football weekends.

With two-bedroom, 900-square-foot Jackson Square units selling for base price of $288,000, parents of UF students or fans of the Florida Gators are willing to pay handsomely to be near campus.
