Hello, I was accepted to UF summer B 2009. However, my scholarships are not available until the beginning of the fall semester. Does UF require that we pay our tuition and our room and board expenses by the end of the summer B term? Can we not defer payments until the fall semester?

And to satisfy my curiosity, what is the ESTIMATED cost of summer B (tuition and room/board)?

I don’t know about the financial aid and scholarships…

The summer dorm rentals and per credit costs are on the website…I figured about about 1500 for 2 classes in-state tuition and a double room…I could not figure out the cost of the meal plan but summer B looks to be about 6 weeks long…so maybe it can be figured out if not found on the website.

You have to pay before your start (or somewhere around the beginning), not the end.

If you get loans, you can defer it until the loans come in. In summer its loans or credit card. You can probably put it on a credit card then then pay it off with scholarship, when it comes in.

I’m not sure about the costs but I do know that Bright Futures never pays for summer sessions and neither does Florida Prepaid. Everything is out of pocket unless you have some separate scholarships. You also cannot defer tuition till fall. I know it sucks but its true. However, I cannot stress how much you should NOT get a meal plan at UF. The food is aweful, there is very little to no variety (all that changes is the name of the dish…not the contents) the dinning halls are very very dirty and should probably be shut down due to health code violations. During preview and tours people will tell you its great…thats their jobs…not the truth. Dont get a meal plan. I suggest you put some money into declining balance which you can use anywhere on campus and then learn to cook a little lol. Trust me lost of people learn how…I live on a floor with 50 other guys and lots of people cook. The meal plans are horrible…just plain horrible and a huge waste of money. Dont fall for it, you might even like it if you eat there once or twice…but after 4 months of eating the exact same food every single day…yea you get the picture. Anyways…I wrote a lot…well welcome to the gator nation!

Correction to the post above mine- Florida prepaid is available during the summer. Since you buy the prepaid, you determine when you use it. My d took summer classes last summer and she used prepaid. It’s only Bright Futures that does not pay during the summer
