UF Transfer thread Fall 09

i agree, housing seems it would be a problem.

I called and talked to someone and they told me that May 1st was the deadline by which everyone must be notified- but that person was at the College of Ag and life sciences, so i dont know if it differs for other colleges

are you sure it's may 1st bc I was told that it could be as late June? I mean I hope you're right bc may is a helluva lot better than june.

decisions were given mid april last year.

i really doubt it's been moved back a month or a month and a half.

Ha- I know what you mean, May is MUCH better. I talked to someone and they said May 1st, but an email said June 1st. I am just going to hope that hearing it from a person is more credible and go with May!

Don't worry about housing. There will be PLENTY of available apartments for you. Last year many complexes were part empty with landlords offering all sorts of perks to sign a lease. My own daughter has not been able to find a roommate since her last roommate transferred out in November. Many places to live right next to the campus...all price ranges. Check out the gainesville craigslist pages when you know for sure that you will need housing. Also check out the ads in The Alligator.

what about on-campus housing?

why on earth would you want to live on campus, especially at uf?

I've only visited campus a couple times back when my sister attended, I dont remember her dorm when she was a freshmen being that horrible.

what are the advantages to living off-campus?

....I only see the difference right now as being a tad farther and not in walking distance(these are assumptions)...I am not 100% sure i will be able to have a car during my prospective first term over there.

i'm guessing you're a prospective transfer student... being as you're posting in this thread.

uf has really really OLD on campus housing.

not too mention, i'm guessing you're at least 20? why on earth would you want to deal with the b.s. of 17 and 18 year olds?

maybe that's just me.

There are plenty of apartments within walking distance to campus. The bus system is also very reliable.

bump........

is anyone else applying to the college of agr. and life sciences and if so what are your stats?

Anyone else applying to journalism? Any news?

macbook- as you can probably yell from my last posts, I am applying to the college of ag n life sciences for the fam, youth and community sciences program. I have a 4.0 overall gpa

Does anyone know if you can change your major if you transfer?

good question, macbook10. I have heard that it is extremely hard to change it.

Does anyone know if you can change your major if you transfer?

no you can't.

Can you add a double major if you transfer?

I think that if you change to major that it is in your college and has all the same prereqs as the major that you transferred into then I believe you can.
