As of recently, I have been accepted to UCF, but not UF yet (February Notification). I am trying to debate the pros and cons of each university before the deadline so I can make a decisive action. My major for UCF is Microbiology and Molecular Biology (Pre-Med) and for UF, I selected Biology (Pre-Medicine). I am fairly confident that i will get into UF since i have a 5.0 G.P.A. and a 28 on my ACT, but I'm still prudent towards it.

Here's my questions...
1)Which University would better suit my science desires(i.e. which school has a better science program)? I prefer the courses at UCF fairly more than at UF, but if UF has a better science program the scale would change.

2) Can you, the community, please give me feedback on the pros and cons of each university because i want to go to UF to learn responsibility and independence through living on my own, yet UCF is cheaper because i will live at home.

3) Does anyone know how long it takes a accepted applicant to UCF to receive notifactions for any scholarships? Because i haven't seemed to have been getting any, which is confusing because of my academic record.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Any answers are greatly appreciated =).

DS is in the same boat, and acceptance would depend on NMF scholarship offer. If any who are experienced here would chime in, we’d be grateful~~~

Asianguitar: I got accepted into UCF (#2 choice) too! Waiting on February 11th for UF though, it’s my number 1. Except my ACT isn’t as high, but everything else is fantastic. (trust me, they look at more than just SAT/ACT!!!) But I’ll give you my insight since I’ve visited both and know a lot about both (:

Not sure about the science program, but I do know UF is a more “credited” school whereas UCF is up and coming.

Pros for UF- College town, school spirit, established university, both serious & fun, cute little town, getting away from parents is good so you can learn how to be independent. Cons for UF- REALLY BIG, old housing/dorms, $$$
Pros for UCF- modern campus, lots to do, medium size, diversity, a lot of students, great housing, Orlando is a great area (I visit about 2x a month), Cons for UCF- a little mysterious, living with parents (in my opinion), not as established as UF,

I think it’s randomly drawn or something, but you can call the school in January and see what’s up.
