UF v. UMiami-Whats more difficult?

I recently got deferred from UM EA, and i also applied to UF regular I. I was wondering if it was harder to get into UF than Miami, and what you guys think my chances are:

My stats:

3.2 UW-3.8 Florida weighted

SAT 1410: 740 Math/670 V

I live in florida

IB

rank 187/367

Ballet- 10 years

job-7 months

a few strong volunteer: i founded toy drive, 50 hours for and anti drug educational video

UM is garbage, although their 6 yr medical program is very rigorous and hard to get accepted into.. UF is getting harder and harder to get into .. you have a chance at both schools, except the 6yr program.. your SAT is a real nice score and your GPA isnt bad

I think you might be in at UF, they look very heavily at scores and a little less at grades vs Miami. Traditionally, UF is harder to get into than UM tho.

i went on the UF tour and they said they only count the SAT score 10% and transcripts weigh about 50%..thanks for the input. does anyone know the acceptance rate for UF?

You will not get into UF unless you have a really unique story or something to seriously contribute to the school.

UM is a reach and I don't see that happening either, especially because you aren't even in the top 50% of your hs class.

And UM isn't garbage.

UF practically recruits IB students. With a 1410, I see very few problems with you getting admitted, even with that relatively low gpa.

UM is a great school.

Even tho UF said that SAT is 10%, I think they just say that. I know people with 4.0s, great ECs and SAT around 1000-1100 that were rejected. They're really into numbers there. Even tho your chances are not great at UF if you didn't get into UM, you still have a shot. Maybe try UCF? FIU?

yea thanks for the input, i was accepted at fau and tulane, so those are my backups. everyone at my school who is in IB got accepted ED to UF (im talking like 30-40 so far). the ONLY person who didnt had a 2.9 UW gpa and 1250 SATs, i know i wouldve been in ED, but regular is more competitive

You got into Tulane? Great school. My opinion is, you're in at UF. Enjoy the the rest of your year, maybe I'll see you there in the fall.

thank you! what school are you going to?

Well I applied to UM, UF, and Tulane so there's a good chance I might be at the same one as you :)

hah sweet. i think tulane is my #1 right now. im visiting soon, but i looked at the dorms online, and from what i can tell, they are AMAZING with balconies and stuff

Tulane is great. You get a much better education there than at UF. You won't be crammed into classrooms with 300 kids and taught by TAs. The dorms are way way nicer and New Orleans is the most awesome city. It is also ranked as a better school than UF or UM. The only reason one should choose UF is for the low tuition.

Im a junior in high school and I really like Tulane as well...definitely applying next year.

Hoo youre completely wrong. My brother got accepted to UF with a 3.03 UW, 3.65 UF weighted, 1 extracurricular (Film Club), and a 1460 SAT. Why did he get in? Because UF drools over IB students, and is easy to get into as long as youre a Florida resident. Blonditr, dont worry, I guarantee youll get into UF.

what about AP students

well if youre in state, just calc your gpa by adding a half point for honors and a whole point for AP. If you took alot of AP courses, and your weighted GPA is above 3.6, and your SAT is good, you should get in. Being a minority helps alot too.
