UF vs Carnegie Mellon

For ChemE....
Any thoughts other than price and weather?

Well, what are your thoughts? Preferences? Goals?

Both have strong arguments for. I am leaning in a particular direction. Maybe there is someone who can point out something I haven’t considered.

…I can’t point anything out if I don’t know what you’re hoping to gain out of college. That’s like asking, “Nike or Adidas?” and not providing information on what you’re looking for.

G’day mate.

UF because its very cheap for in-state. CMU is better academically though.

The atmosphere at UF is more rah, rah College life. CMU is a disparate school with disparate student types there. Not a great social scene, a lot of intense students there, not the best environment for anyone social.

It all depends on the type of social scene you’re looking for. Sure, it doesn’t have the big frat-style parties that Pitt does down the street, but there are still smaller parties where it tends to be more hanging out with friends and friends of friends. I actually really enjoyed the potluck parties my friends would have. Everyone would bring food/snack/beers, we’d have a great meal and then have typical party stuff afterwards.

go to which one is the cheapest. Both are good schools.

Thanks for the input. It’s hard to know what you want exactly. I want a good education that will enable me to get a good job. I don’t want to hurt my parents financially and I want to enjoy my time there. That’s it.
