UF vs Drexel Engineering?

I’ve been admitted to the University of Florida and Drexel U. I plan to major in engineering (I’m thinking civil). Which school would land me a better job after undergrad.? And, How do they compare to one another, in terms of their engineering departments?
UF is cheaper and closer to home… not sure if its worth it to go all the way to Penn if I’ll be just fine over here.

About equal in engineering…UF maybe slightly better. Drexel private and UF public if that matters. Median income is higher at Drexel. One of the biggest complaints about UF(undergraduate) classes is that they are huge.Student to faculty ratio:
UF 21:1
Drexel 10:1

thanks for reminding me about the student to faculty ratio! whoo

UF is the higher rated school (in general and for engineering). A bunch of stats drive the ratings, such as UF’s higher 6 year graduation rates, higher freshman retention, etc.

Drexel is know for it’s co-op program, where it’s optional at UF.

Bottom line, it’s hard to justify the cost difference between Drexel and UF (in-state).

If I can do the co-op program at UF, that’s even better. I guess UF is my best option all around then.

Aeromom just wrote a interesting comment on the University of Alabama forum about Internships vs Co-ops.

I would just add that co-ops generate more income during your time in college/u, but it will take longer to graduate (vs. doing summer internships).

Of course, at UF, you will have a year or two to decide which route is best for you.

Good Luck!

thanks!!!
