UF vs GT social life

I've already compared academics. Could someone compare the social life at Georgia Tech to UF. As a man, the male:female ratio of GT concerns me. I'm not concerned with parties. I want to be able to find a couple of good friends and have an enjoyable college life. I'm more laid back than most science and engineering majors, so I'm trying to figure out which would be a better fit.

Cross posting with the GT forum for more answers

Do you like football?

Speaking as someone who actually attended both (Tech for freshman year… ended up not liking Engineering, then transferred to UF to do Information Systems/Operations Management), I preferred the Tech social life. The male:female ratio isn’t bad (numerically, it sucks), but if you’re not socially awkward, it’s pretty easy to hang out with the females.

I also don’t party, and am described as having an “engineering mindset”

The people I hung out with were all the relaxed type.

(PS - Towers dorm, while crap, rocks from a social aspect)

I don’t dislike football, and would probably go to games occasionally, but could barely care less about it in comparison to most. There are so many obsessive football fans.

Thankfully I’m not socially awkward, or at the very least I don’t think I am. Definitely odd though.

I Know you would definitely find something you’re interested in. UF’s Quidditch team won the world cup in new york last year (haha), there’s a skydiving group called the falling gators, and there are countless groups that create autonomous subs, drones, etc.

Some really cool things, and something for everyone.

comparing the social life at Ga Tech to UF’s. Is impossible there is no comparison.

My son was accepted to both schools. He spent a weekend in Ga Tech with a friend his HS year. That is all it took.

And yes he is an Engineering major.

The best thing you could do is visit both campuses and decide for yourself.
