I'm a Floridian who has got in to both GT and UF, though I only made the honors program at UF. I'm completely certain I want to do engineering, somewhere between CS and CE because I really want to start some sort of career in robotics, UAVs that sort of thing, as right now I already spend a lot of time doing Botball as well as my own Quadcopter project.

Anyway, because of this I was pretty sure GT would be the school for me, visited and loved it, etc. But now the financial reality is setting in. GT OOS would be a huge strain on me and my family, while UF (and bright futures) is very affordable. Going straight to grad school would also be completely out of the picture if nothing changes, as I'd need to start working ASAP.

OTOH, GT has its Co-Op program, and what seems to be a much greater quantity of ongoing robotics research. I'm also a self proclaimed geek and having visited the campus feel like I'd fit better there than among the 50,000 undergrads at UF. I've also worked my tail off in highschool doing IB, and most of my academic peers are heading out of state, to schools even more prestigious than GT (my GPA is relatively weak) and are somewhat trying to convince me to do the same for a number of reasons.

So any thoughts? My parents are heavily suggesting that I go to UF but it would seem at least that I still have some leeway in convincing them otherwise.
