I was recently accepted to both UF and UGA, and I have no clue what to do!!! I absolutely love Georgia, my sister goes there and it feels like a home away from home for me. Athens is a beautiful place, but I recently fell in love with UF when I visited!! Can anyone give me any advice in comparing the schools? My major will be journalism, and I plan to rush! My sister is in a sorority at UGA so that might help me there… Would it be very hard for someone with no connections to get into a sorority at UF?? I’m also quite a liberal person- so is one more liberal than the other? (Although I’m aware most SEC schools are not liberal) Which would a New Englander fit better in?? Any advice at all would help, thanks!
Both schools have great journalism programs, and the two schools are peers. UF may be a tad more liberal, but not enough that I think it would make much of a difference.
Visit both schools, but if you like UGA, I don’t see any reason to pick UF over it.
Good Luck!
One thing to think about is where you hope to live and work after college. I’m a newspaper reporter in South Florida, and my paper has lots of UF grads, and I don’t know if we have any from UGA. It’s not because one is a better school, it’s because of where people want to live afterwards, what internships are available, where people get connections etc.
^ good point dlf2000
I’d go wherever’s cheaper if I were you.
Both are excellent options. The weather may be a tad better in FL, so that’s another option to consider. But if you’re from New England, I would suspect any southern school would be an improvement in weather…lol.
I am also curious about your question about rushing a sorority without any connections. Does anybody have any insight?
