Ok I sent in my application a couple of days ago and Im super excited to find out in a couple of months if I am accepted but I want honest opinions on whether or not I will get in.
I am a sophomore at a NC Community College and here are my stats:
GPA- 3.5
Credit Hours- 48
SAT Score-1980
ACT- 21
EC’S- Rugby player for 2 years, President’s list, 2 part time jobs, debate club speaker, minority activist group leader, mentor for Big brothers Big Sisters for 5 years.
Ive read that with UGA timing is everything, I know my stats aren’t the best but it is what I am working with and I would appreciate any comments whether alum or not on whether or not Ill be accepted. I should note I am a black male also, can speak almost fluent spanish, french, italian and german and currently working or chinese. I live in a single parent home also.I appreciate the comments in advance
Thanks for the thread.
I’m a freshman (credential sophomore) at Georgia State University and trying to leave!
Major: Philosophy
College GPA: 3.81
Major GPA: 4.0
Credit Hours 34 (18 from AP credit)
Dean’s List
GSU Honors College
High school stats and scores don’t matter for UGA so I won’t post them. ECs also aren’t a factor.
I do, however, work 25 hours a week at a part-time job to pay for school and family expenses, so I put this on my application.
For those who are transferring from GSU with AP credit, GSU DOES NOT GIVE DETAILED AP TRANSFER CREDIT! I dealt with them today, they only indicate the credit as AP, and only give the number of credit hours. They DON’T put the GSU course equivalency. Apparently their “computer system doesn’t allow it because courses are different everywhere”. They assured me that UGA accepts this, but the UGA website says otherwise. Anyone have any insight on this?
^ I have read that UGA takes just about all Sophomore level classes from the major 4 years in state(GT, GSU, KSU, GSU, GCSU). However, they mostly don’t take Junior level and above as 1-1s. They’ll transfer but as classes that only count as electives. They will not fill requirements.
Say you take a Sophomore level Accounting I and Macroeconomics class. Both of these will fill UGA’s Macro and Accounting I requirements for business majors. But say you take Economics 3006 too. That one is not going to count as filling one of the required classes to graduate with an Econ major at UGA. You’ll have to take it again.
