YAY congrats!! Did you get an email?/are you willing to share stats?
There was a status update in my portal, and still no email yet.
OOS-TX
ACT 31 (32 SS)
GPA 3.79 UW 4.6 W
Ton of ECs
Happy to share that my daughter just got in! She was an EA that was deferred, but got in today. Probably updated grades might have helped. Also, I donât think her ACT score got to them in time for EA because she took them in Oct.
In state
GPA 3.98 UW, 4.24 (UGA GPA)
ACT 32
8 APs
SGA Student Body President
Lots of other ECs
She was notified by email and then it was updated in her portal.
Good luck to everyone still waiting. We were lucky to hear today.
Does anyone see mid year grades received in the portal?
yes
Did your counselor send or did you send them yourself?
I was going to upload them but the only document option is resume.
Thanks
my counselor sent mine
Was hoping to hear something today. DS applied RD. 35ACT 5.01WGPA 46DEcredits. 1000volhrs etc etc Oh wellâŠmaybe in March
Do you know his UGA GPA? They donât look at weighted GPAs from schools and DE classes donât get any added points in their calculations unlike AP or IB. That should give you an idea where he stands grade wise. UGA GPA is calculated using a 4.0 scale and that looks like a 5.0 scale? Instructions on how to calculate is on the UGA Admissions blog.
My daughter got in. Itâs nice she got an acceptance after 2 denials in VA schools.
OOS
GPA 3.81 UW, 4.11 W (4.05 UGA GPA)
ACT 35
9 AP/1 DE classes
NHS and Model UN
Not sure if she received any merit. They sent another email later about financial aid but sheâs out and we havenât read it.
So interesting this year. People with 4.4+ UGA GPA still waiting, Maybe because they are test optional.
3.97 unweighted- sent 35ACT in-applied to 15 schools-heard from 13 (still waiting to hear from UGA and VT) got in with merit scholarships to the 13-itâs all good-we are OOS so probably not much merit anyway
My son has same stats and got in EA but I suspect he was one that did not get admitted because of stats only. This is a stats only admit for RD applications. Your son should have good luck in March.
You should be fine. My neighbor is an AP teacher here In Atlanta and lots of kids with better stats donât make it in first round but almost always make it in the end. Donât be discouraged by people with lower stats getting in early. Never seems to be any rhyme or reason to UGA.
When are financial aid offers supposed to be released for RD? Will those admitted in the February round receive theirs sooner than the March round?
I think they come on an ongoing basis into April. My daughter was accepted EA in December with a scholarship estimate in the letter, final packages arenât communicated until later.
Does anybody know on average how many people get accepted RD? and how many of those are from those who were deferred?
Itâs been around 50% of deferred getting accepted in previous years.
I think you can find it on the UGA common. Data Set. https://oir.uga.edu/_resources/files/cds/UGA_CDS_2019-2020.pdf
Not sure about that percentage historically (sounds high to me) but should be much lower this year since they deferred way more people. 6800 for 2020 and over 10,000 for 2021. If your percentage is right for 2020 it should be roughly â this year.
