UGA chances?????

Applying EA
OOS (I live in NJ)
ACT: 29 composite, 31 superscored
GPA: weighted 3.92 at academically competitive hs
APs: Psychology, Art History, Environmental Science
Honors: I was in an honors program sophomore and junior year called American Studies where I was in honors English and honors History
Notes: my high school is academically challenging and APs are hard to get into and you can’t really start taking them until junior year
Activities: I’m involved in several activities but I don’t think UGA really cares about activities

UGA is my first choice and I am really hoping to get in

Let me know if you think I will…

UGA will be a reach for you. You’re an OOS student and course rigor is low and challenging. Check this out: https://www.admissions.uga.edu/prospective-students/first-year/fy-profile

not challenging*

Two key questions for your chances. What is your UGA recalculated GPA? What did you get on the Math and English portion of the ACT? For the ACT, UGA only considers Math and English sections. What you scored on the Reading and Science portions are irrelevant as it relates to comparing to the UGA admitted average of 30. This link explains how to calculate your UGA recalculated GPA (this GPA eliminates all the “fluff” grades like Band, PE, Bible, etc.). UGA also does not give you any extra credit for Honors courses. They only give you extra credit in their calculation for AP courses.
Most of the GPAs you see posted on these forums are overstated relative to a “UGA GPA” as many high schools give extra points for Honors courses -
which, UGA does not. http://ugaadmissions.blogspot.com/2013/11/calculating-uga-gpa.html
