Same here!
We have a contact at the school. They told us verbally. The financial aid notification date is tentatively set for 3/26/21 in late afternoon. Until we get it in writing we are still anxious. My daughter loves the school.
We have visited Clemson and are going to visit FSU in the first week of April. I love both schools. She got accepted to UF, but no OOS $$. Even with $$$, I would pick FSU over UF. Honestly, one large reason for me leaning towards Clemson over FSU is that it is closer to home ATL. Otherwise, if we lived in Florida, I would choose FSU. Both very good academic schools, but the kids can have fun too! I went to an IVY league school and it was very stressful. At my job there are plenty of people that went to state schools around the country, so I donât think it matters at all. Just excel where you are and you will rise to the top.
I hear you. We are Chicago area, so they are ALL far, but D is tired of midwest winters. Of the CEOâs I have worked for, all who went to school in the US went to big state schools, so in my book, the schools we are talking about are all fine options.
My daughter got rejected from UGA. With a 4.0 and 31 act. And great EC and Ap and honors . But thankfully she fell in love with FSU after seeing UGA FU OSU. She picked FSU
So good luck to all on your decisions. All great schools !
I am surprised to hear that Clemson is offering full OOS tuition waivers this year. They havenât done that in several years. Was this a special scholarship? Aside from National Scholars, they donât seem to offer any substantial merit aid, even to the very best applicants.
True. My oldest got 20k 2 years ago but I think 12k is likely the max this year for merit.
I am watching Clemsonâs merit aid very closely this year since itâs my D22âs current top choice. Merit aid has been trending down in recent years, and I am curious what the impact of COVID will be.
$20K is a fabulous award, but even that doesnât cover all of the OOS tuition differential. Two years ago the max award was $15K (or was it $20K), and then it dropped to $12K last year.
Yep. Same here. Waitlisted at Clemson (?!?) was a tough afternoon, as my Dâs resume was better than 98% of their in-state students, but all good now. Wanted to be a Dawg all along. We are OOS (from NC).
I live NC too, but I am going to NC State, I canât really afford OSS.
@Couglesrx01 My daughter also got rejected from UGA with the exact same stats. APâs, Honor, tons of EC & Leadership. She was between FSU and OSU. She picked OSU
Good luck everyone! Somehow our kids all end up where they are supposed to be.
You are 100% correct! Good luck to your daughter:)
YES and im very disappointed as Clemson was my top
Clemson merit posted in iRoar accounts today. Max OOS shared so far is $10,500 tuition waiver plus $500.
Thanks. I will have my son check when he gets home. They are competing against free tuition at UGA which will be hard to beatđ
WOW! That would be awesome at UGA!
The one good thing about the lottery in GA.
It is pretty great. My oldest has free tuition at Ga Tech. Made it easier to turn down other schools for sure!
So right! Itâs hard to beat!
Thanks for letting me know. That is what he got as well.
