UGA EA Class of 2025

Any news on Honors acceptances?

Itā€™s been so long my daughter has forgotten. Theyā€™ve done a poor job Honors wise of keeping kids informed.

Late March or early April - so soon!

honors just came out

I got rejected from honors, kinda disappointed but I was accepted to UofSC Honors so Iā€™m not super upset. my stats were 32 ACT 33 SS, 4.29 GPA, 8 APs

Yep, my D just found out she got accepted!

Based on everything I read on the chat, Honors UGA is difficult. My daughter - just got in - wow. When you see the 34 ACT, it says just math/English. My daughter was a 30/32 superscore. Not sure math/English scores. My daughter thought UGA was too hilly and large; she preferred U of SC. But maybe sheā€™ll take a second look. Still, the scholarship is not huge (1/2 OOS tuition). Good luck to all.

I read some stuff earlier in the chain about UGA Honors. So daughter loves Charleston - is in their Honors and is an Intl Scholar but itā€™s not cheap. In at U of SC. Now in at UGA.

Some folks earlier said UGA kids get preference on jobs, etc. Daughter likely will student Intl Relations and UGA seems highly ranked in that.

Thoughts on UGA with Honors? We still didnā€™t pay the $35 housing app. The campus was so big but Honors is on the main quad it says. Not sure if we can still get.

They have a good bus system and the bars are on top of the hill so the students can use gravity to get home.

She actually took UGA off as sheā€™s narrowing her list. She thought the campus was nice but too big. And she didnā€™t think the town was that nice even though it rates highly. She likes U of SC and Charleston better - which tells me sheā€™d probably like a more urban surrounding area.

Be happy you got a scholarship! My daughter was admitted EA, admitted to honors, 4.0 UW GPA, 10 APs, 35 ACT, etc. No scholarship. Booo

I understand. Anyone who gets a scholarship anywhere is fortunate. There are some great things said about UGA Honors in the chat and kids like your daughter with exceptional stats are in it, better stats than other Honors Programs. So now itā€™s like I didnā€™t love UGAā€¦I liked it. She didnā€™t like Athens that much (not urban enough). And the school is massive which she didnā€™t like. So Iā€™m going to steer her away but they have a strong IR program which is, for now, her intended major. Too bad you canā€™t combine the best attributes of the various schools.

Looks like UGA posted stats the other day - didnā€™t see anyone post: 39% admitted, 40% with no score. Pretty high. The ACT was 31-34 for those who did. 26% offered a scholarship.

In the blog, someone pointed out they admitted 2K more than last year (not sure if true but that shows you how much they expect their yield to be down due to people applying to more schools). Also, someone said they waitlisted 1,900 - so if true that shows these schools really are concerned about their ability to predict yield.

Yes the 2K and the 1900 stats are true. I think David Graves confirmed the 1900 waitlist offers in the comments - I know I saw it somewhere. They admitted around 13k last year and 15k this year. The stats were high for UGA - the RD stats were essentially the same as the EA stats which are usually quite a bit higher than RD. The 2k may be explained in part by the fact that this was the first year on the common app so many of those ā€œnewā€ applicants may not yield the same as in the past. On the other hand Ga Tech admitted 100 more students this year but has an enormous waitlist. Different way to approach this uncertainty!

My son has similar stats and events, no merit either. OSU, Purdue, FSU, and Minnesota were great with merit so looks like UGA is off the list for us.
