UGA Honors - Essay too long?

I'm finishing up my app for the UGA Honors program. It says to write a "one-page essay" but mine has mutated into something about 1 and 3/4 pages long. Is this too long? I've re-written a shortened version, but it's stilted and mundane in my opinion.

Anyone else applying to the Honors program? I don't think I'll get it...the average SAT score was 1480 last year and is expected to go up this year. I have a 1360.

Are you submitting them online? I did that last year, and they had word limits for each essay (you couldn't deviate more than 10% from the suggested length) for you to be able to submit it. For example, if you tried to submit a 225-word essay for a 200-word essay, the website wouldn't accept it, but if you submitted a 219-word essay, it would allow it. If that's the rule for the online application, I would assume the same would go for the paper (if you are choosing to do paper). I would say that 1.75 pages is too long for a 1 page essay (1.25 would be the absolute max, in my opinion). Good luck.

I'm applying to the Honors College. DON'T WORRY! SAT scores have little to do with their final decisions. Thankfully, they care WAYYYYYYYY more about grades. Two of my great friends were accepted automatically, and neither of them even had a 1350. However, you must make up what you lack in SAT / ACT scores with phenomenal grades.

I decided not to apply to the Honors Program. If I decide to go to UGA, I'll apply for 2nd semester.

Thanks for the help though!
