UGA Waitlist

I've been a posting a lot lately it seems!

Though I hoped for an acceptance, I received the limbo state of waitlist. As someone who was expecting a rejection, this is good step for me :)

I am just looking for those in my same situation; the UGA waitlist. There are about 1,000 of you out there and about 700 will accept a spot. Hope we all get to UGA this fall or next spring!

Feel free to comment your thoughts, stats, other college options, or anything else! Go Dawgs!

What were your stats; if you don’t mind me asking?

@PennsyDad UGA GPA: 3.41, SAT: 1820 (1190 CR+M), ACT: 27, 10 AP classes. I have tons of ECs as well!
I am almost positive it was my GPA because I had 4 Cs in math.

Got my waitlist letter today

Stats: In 2013, 1,132 people were waitlisted and only 107 got admitted off the list.
In 2012, 1,113 were waitlisted and only 158 were admitted off the list.

That’s ~9% in 2013 and ~15% in 2012. My hopes are down but still there! It all just depends on what UGA is missing in their classes in order to make them full.

Well that was quick. Got rejected off the waitlist today. They must have been pretty speedy with decisions.

Congrats to the 130 who made it off the list! Wish I did but all I can do is move forward and hope to transfer as a sophomore!

Good luck to you; wherever you end up.

@camover My son was also rejected off the wait list at UGA this past week. Admittedly a bit surprised with his 3.6 uw GPA and 1900 SAT but no school is ever a sure thing! Are you planning on any transfer options in the future?

Just for the record: my daughter also did not make it off the waitlist. 31 ACT, 4.05 weighted, student body president, three sports, art awards. Two D’s sophomore year math did her in, according to admissions. The teacher got fired that year and the guidance counselor explained it in her letter, to no avail. Just killed her gpa.

Wow! @docmom That is surprising. But I can understand as someone who also made a couple Cs and a D from math. Unfortunately, it was another record-breaking admissions year with a high accuracy in their yield prediction. Is your daughter planning to transfer in the future?

@sitamom That’s surprising too since he meets the 50th percentile just about. I am planning on transferring after 1 year. Hopefully with AP exams, I will have 21 transferable credits!

No I don’t think she’ll transfer. I strongly suspect she’ll be happily ensconced at the University of South Carolina at that point.
