It seems to be continuing that trend that UGa's classes are just getting stronger and stronger, although the wierd thing is, their admission rate has increased from 53%-56% because of less applicants.

Here are some stats provided from the UGA Admission's Blog:

[QUOTE]
Total number of applicants: 17,659
Total number of Accepted Freshmen: 9,965
Mid-50% range for GPA: 3.72-4.03
Mid-50% range for the SAT CR and M: 1220-1400
Mid-50% range for the SAT Writing: 580-680
Mid-50% range for the ACT: 27-31
Average number of AP/IB courses: over 5.5
While we show the average number of AP/IB courses, we look at the entire course selection, and the accepted students have challenged themselves with a wide range of Honors and Advanced courses, and a number of college courses taken through Joint Enrollment/Dual Enrollment programs.

Please do not evaluate yourself and think because you made these stats, you should have gotten admitted because they look at more then numbers.

Also, when it saids Mid-50%, it means the 25th to 75th percentile so there were students who were admitted below these stats and above these stats. These are mainly averages

The point of this thread is to see how strong the class was and how it's continuing the trend.

The problem is that you’re equating admissions rate to selectivity. That is only true if the same students apply year after year and to every college.

Well, I had these stats:
3.83 GPA
32 ACT
6 AP Courses

Admitted in February. UGA consistently gets stronger and stronger. In four years when I’m a senior I wonder if I reapplied as a high school senior with these same stats whether I’d get in or not. Just makes me prouder to be a dawg :)

I realize that the idea of less applicants pushing the admissions rate up is flawed. I know that not after looking at Emory’s new class. Apparently it’s even less than than 2013 (It was 15549 versus 15600, which are both less than my class of approx. 17,500), but the average SAT went up (from 1394 to 1399), and the admissions rate fell by about .2%. Our admissions is sketch, and they better hope that the students that plan to enroll have about the same stats.

Dude, your SAT puts you over the 75percentile, and your GPA is solid. You probably did other awesome things. You would get in. I know you were trying celebrate UGA’s increased selectivity over the years, but you know that you would be admitted. :)

It’s a good thing I came to UGA when I did! I’m not so sure I would’ve gotten in EA with the SAT score I had.

This is why I stated that the class is getting strong and stronger. the only reason it decreased because there were less applicants and a few more students who were admitted.

They probably did it to get more students to matriculate instead of pulling off the waitlist because the students who were admitted were stronger overall.

Clearly you don’t understand, which is why you claimed that UGA has been more selective than GT over the last few years based solely on admission rate. That is far from the truth.

Again, take into account what I said about Emory’s class of 2014 stats. It’s not that simple.

Where can I see the link to the Emory 2014 stats?

I don’t think there is an official range posted, but the Emory Wheel has an article addressing it. The Dean responds to it, giving the admissions percentage and Average SAT. Here you go.

I applied Early Action and was accepted in…November, I think it was?

GPA: 3.9
SAT: 2140 (M: 660, CR: 730, W: 750)
APs: 6
