I'm an incoming freshmen for 09 and I'm thinking about taking UGBA 10 during the fall semester. My CalSO adviser told me not to take UGBA during the fall semester because it could be intensive for a freshmen. Nonetheless, I was hoping to take that class in order to find out whether or not I actually wanted to go to Haas. So my question is, should or should I not take UGBA 10.

The schedule I have so far is:

Rhetoric 1A
History 7A
Poli Sci 5
and then UGBA 10 or Math 1A

(I don't want to take math my first semester because if I decide to go into another major I like, I don't need math and taking math will not really help me decide whether or not Business and Haas is for me).

calso counselors always try to scare you. i was talked out of taking ba 10 my first semester, so i took it my second, but i don’t think it was hard at all. sure, the class is competitive, but the material is easy. just treat it like a high school class on a straight scale instead of thinking of it as a curved college class.

i think you should take econ first semester and ugba second

first semester is going to have a lot of sophomores in it who are going to apply to haas that november. second semester is pretty much all freshmen. the curves were a lot better second semester than first this year.
