Ugh. Hate doing this but whatever...Chances?

Chances?

I know I really didn’t want to do it because it feels weird, but I think I need someone who isn’t a friend, college counselor, teacher etc. to actually give me an honest opinion:

We’ll start with Stats:
SATs: 2110
Writing: 760
Reading: 730
Math: 620
Essay: 11
(Now, I know that writing scores don’t really count but I had my interview with the Dean of Int’l Admissions and she said that since I’m not naturally “gifted” in math, they’ll look at it but mainly focus on my WR and CR scores)

SAT II’s:
French: 800
Lit: 660

Grades:
We don’t have GPAs in France, but I have a predicted 40/45 which is the equiv. of a 4.0-3.9 UW or all A’s and A-'s

-Full IB Diploma (Extended Essay, TOK the whole thing) which is considered by colleges to be slightly better than taking full APs

-International Student (From France, born in America, 1st generation American and also I’m a minority- Arabian+ Iranian)

My school has a really REALLY really good rapport with Barnard, I don’t think they’ve ever rejected anyone from our school. Well maybe one. I’m also applying ED with 2 other girls from my school so…That could be a problem.

EC’S:
-I started a business of selling sweatshirts with the school logo on it because there’s no such thing as school spirit in France. The money went to a charity that was started by an alum. We raised like $6,000.

-Debate Club: 7 years. (3 years teaching debate)
attended several debate competitions: 4 HMCE (harvard model congress europe) and 2 HMUN (Harvard Model United Nations) 3 PAMUNs (Paris Model United Nations)

-Editor in Chief of Newspaper: Junior year - 1 yr
-President of Newspaper: Senior year- 1 yr
-Lifestyle editor for newspaper: 2 years

-Class President- 2 years (Jr. and Sr. yrs)

-Head of Press Team for the Yearbook : 1 year (Jr. yr)

 • Yearbook Liaison: 1 year (10th grade)

Photography: I’ve done it for about 3 years now. I sent in my portfolio to Barnard (about 16 prints)

-I also sent in this article that I wrote for the paper. It’s really fiery but I’ve been told it’s really, really good. My college counselor insisted on sending it.

I interned at Elle, Cosmopolitan, and Marie Claire Magazines under the Editor in Chief of each

-I’m a member of Democrats Abroad and I worked for them during Super Tuesday and the Primaries

-This summer I did an internship with several magazine editors, including the Editors of Time, Life and Newsweek.

-I also attended the DNC, the democratic national convention in Denver, both as a member and a volunteer at Obama’s speech at Invesco Field.

-During the summer I volunteered for the Obama campaign by registering people to vote, calling, and fundraising.

-For the weekend before the election, I went to swing states and volunteered. Canvassing, calling, etc etc.

think that’s about it…

Apparently my recommendations were really amazing. That could help too.

Obviously I'm not an adcom and can't really say, but I think you have a very, very good chance.:)

Excellent ECs, everything very good except Math SAT: in.

You have a very good chance.
I don't think that score in Math is so low that it will hold you back at all.

Good Luck!

ugh i'm so nervous! Thanks guys!
