I'm half way through high school and I haven't been enjoying it. School work occupies sooooooo much of my time that I can't enjoy myself. How do you guys manage a social life?? I lost a lot of my popularity and popular friends because I'm so wrapped up with school.

I used to be friends with kids who weren't in honors and AP classes and gradually we drifted apart because I rarely saw them in school and I was too busy with homework to go out. Instead, I found friends within my honors classes and realized that they are actually a better fit for me.

And if you just forget about popularity, you might have a better time. Enjoy yourself for who you are, not who you think you should be. Since you say you're halfway through high school, I'm going to assume you just finished sophomore year. I'm sorry to tell you this, but junior year is a lot worse. If you don't think you have free time now, wait till next year. Not to freak you out or anything, I'm just saying you should probably get new friends that match your hectic schedule. Then you can commiserate about your homework load.

manage time better? Don't procrastinate? Do homework in school? Don't be soo hung up in grades as they are almost never deciding factors in top schools...

It kinda stinks that these are the "best years of our lives"

I was thinking about that not too long ago and came to the conclusion that many people feel that high school is the best time of their life simply because the bad decisions they made then had yet to have any visible consequences on their future.

That said, there is no reason why you should be miserable. I agree with what every one else has said. You need to make some time out for fun activities.

P.S.
Here is my math teacher's philosophy on how to balance school and social activities, "There is always something fun to do. Think about it, every single second of the day, something fun is going on. Well, if that's the case, why not do your work first, and then do something fun since there are infinite opportunities to have fun but only a finite amount of opportunities to get your work done."
