So here's my story about math in high school. In 9th grade i was placed in Algebra I honors. The subject was extremely easy, and I knew 70% of the material, before even taking it. But the funny thing is the teacher despised me, and I hated him. I seriously did not understand why he treated me the way he did, and too often i would burst in anger at the end of class. I didn't think this would do anything to my grade. Boy was I wrong. I got a B as my first marking period grade. I was shocked due to the fact that I had not gotten a B in math since like third grade. I questioned him to why I got that grade. The truth is he lowered my participation grade to such an extent, that my average fell to an 86. I was angry, but I started to suck up to him, and got an A- and A the following marking periods. Then during the fourth marking period, yet again he angered me to the point of which I yelled at him, and walked out of the class. I apologized to him the following morning. My fourth marking period grade was a B-. My final Exam Grade a B+, and my final grade for the year a B+. Now I was really angry when I saw this. If he had not given me a B-, I probably would still have had an A- at the end of the year..... But what is done is done

So I decided to take geometry honors over the summer in one month, so I could go into Alg 2 honors as a sophomore. Geometry is a horrible subject, and even more at the honors level. 7 days into the class, the marking period ended, and my average for the marking period was a 85.5%, or a B.

Through these experiences today onwards Im starting to detest math, a subject that I never seemed to dislike much in the past.....

I also HATED geometry when i took it, but luckily the next few years shouldn't have anything to do with it. algebra 2, pre calc, and calc bc have all been much easier than geometry to me

The way you act with your math teacher reminds me of myself and my physics teacher!! Haha. Once he was delivered a cupcake from the school staff for his birthday or something and I ate it while he was on the phone out in the hall :]

i love math, but god to i remember my honors geometry class...
impossibleeee.

we'd have tests, and i'd write this like ten thousand step proof because i could not figure out the problem, only to get my test back where it'd be marked wrong... and i'd learn that the right answer was a two step proof - if you happened to remember some random postulate from the second day of school that we never used again ever.

haha.

i ended up with a 100 on the final though.. so though i'd had B's all year, got an A- somehow. don't really understand how that made any sense.... but yeah, i'm not arguing.

I finished Algebra I, remember most of it, so easy but boring, Geometry last year, boring as hell (slept all day), don't remember nearly anything. Took AlgII/trig this year as a freshman, easy but boring as hell, really, other than the super-extra-easy *** probability/sums and sequences/conic sections that were somewhat worth paying attention to. As a rising soph I'm going to Precalculus.

I'm not a math nerd or freak, the subject bores me (which subject doesn't?), I'm prone to falling asleep at least 1/2 the time, so that, perhaps, explains why I'm not going to Multivariable Calculus III or Linear IX as a sophomore.

(Oh and yeah, I suggest you always try to not anger your teacher, something I had a problem this year with my math teacher, as I ***ed her off constantly with my Gandalf/Harry Potter/Pokemon answers, but she's more lighthearted and we have *no** participation so I was able to get an A, no room for possible grade manipulation)

I had a notoriously horrible math teach in 9th grade. My sister had her 4 years before me and said she taught horribly then too. I am pretty sure she ruined my math career throughout high school. Everyone else who had her the first year also seem to be more lost than most when it comes to math.

God reminds me of my Precalc Teacher, while I never got him mad he was a pretty bad teacher. The guy couldn't even factor a perfect cube, it was sad.

Algebra I was easy and I didn't take it seriously. When I tried in that class, I was able to get an A. Integrated Geometry, though, was a pain in the ass. I'm hoping Algebra II/Trigonometry will be easy next year.

But math is so awesome. I love how it all just clicks in Calculus (of course, I've never taken a higher level math course--I assume it all just gets better from here).

Man, I remeber my Algebra class, I always forgot my homework so I would do mine during 45 second long announcements. :) Like I said it was really easy.
Then I'd play Starcalc(TI-83 version of Starcraft) during my teacher's lectures.
Ahh Good Memories... P.S. I got an A in that class.

But geometery... THAT is a whole different story.
I actually had to do my homework at home. GASP
And My teacher was just just horrible.
I really don't know how geometery fits into math.
I mean who needs to learn about shapes!
I guess what what I'm trying to say is Geometery sucks.
