Ugh,,,, retake a 740? Please help ......

I took Math 2C with 1 week of prep
but I hardley studied but still managed to get a 740…

(1 hour is NOT enough!!! I did not know that)

but at the time i thought 740 was decent
but I think if i retake it I’ll be able to get a 800.

but does it make a difference?
740 vs 800…

should I do it?

I still have to take SAT Physics and SAT Chem.

so…

retake Math 2C

just concentrate on other two SAT subjects :)

Please help!

If you're taking additional subjects anyway (i.e. you'll be at the test centre anyway) and you don't think you'll need a lot of additional prep to get an 800, might as well. Otherwise, 740 is still not a bad score.

While a 740 is good, I do think an 800 is within your reach. If it were me, if I were in your shoes, I'd retake for an 800. Prep right this time! :)

a 740 is good for any school. Don't retake.

ugh .... -_T
I guess right now its about...

Retake 2
Don't 1

I do think 740 is a very good score
but its just.....
800!!! T_T the 800....

Does it even make a difference? 740 or 800?

For most subjects I would say 740 is a superb score no doubt, but for some like math with such a generous curve, it's not as fly (don't get me wrong though, it is still a great score)

I heard (indirectly) from my college counselor that colleges call her up when they see that people retake any subject tests over 700.
Personally, I feel that you shouldn't bother retaking it unless MIT or Caltech is your first choice.

I have to agree with the 'one hour isn't enough' thing. I only got about 3/4 of the questions done.... :( but math isn't my strong point anyways.

I think that 740 is a very competitive score, so unless you're trying to shore up not so great other scores, or you're applying to a school like McGill which automatically assigns scholarships and college credit to very high scores, I would take as many tests as possible to, I dunno, demonstrate well-rounded-ness or something rather than re-taking an already very good score.

I'm just hoping to break 600 on the math 2...

740 on every other exam BUT Math II (and Chinese and Korean...) is competitive.

The discrepancy between 740 and 800 is somewhat big, a raw score of 37/50 v. 43/50.

You should only retake it if you are confident that you'll score 800. Or, you could retake it as many times as you'd like, since it's only a one hour examination.

if you are confident you can get an 800, retake it.

my belief is that if you break 750, you don't need to retake it. It's kind of like a watermark (which changes for each college); if you're over it, you're set to go. above 750 should cover you for most colleges, if not all.

I got a 770 in US history and 790 on chem, but I'm not retaking because I think the score is fine, despite my belief that I could do better.

I'm sure with more prep the test will feel a lot easier to you =)

you should retake it.
Math IIC is supposed to be pretty easy, and most people I know are 750+. So to make yourself more competitive, it doesn't hurt to retake.
