I dont know how to interpret this waitlist. Is this a sign of things to come in late March?

I feel equally surprised by my notification (rejection)… As we are just a sample of the applicant pool, though, I’m fairly sure there are plenty of objectively better candidates that have been denied acceptance.

i have seen so many “random” decisions by the top schools nothing surprises me. Keellota I’m glad you have some equally great options and I’m sure 20more will also! Best of luck!

haha, thanks for the kind words. You’re right that I never had a lot of interest in WashU, but I don’t think there is any way for them to have concluded that. I visited the campus and all, so I “demonstrated interest.” but again, thanks and I am definitely happy with what I have so far.

Cubsfan… I think you needed to be a cardinals fan!!! that would have done it! Don’t be bummed it looks like acceptances were all over the place and with your numbers I’m sure you will have amazing options.

Honestly speaking, I don’t think people who has high stats like Cubsfan … will attend even they are accepted. With FA - yes, you will balance when all the decisions come in. So don’t feel bad or pain. Sometimes, less choices/options are better when comes to final decision. With that stats, you will have decent place to go with balanced FA.

I hope not. I have similar stats to yours and was waitlisted too. Didn’t do an interview or visit though, not that that matters for a research uni.

I doubt WUSTL practices “yield protection” and we’re just too good for them, because how would they have such a great incoming class profile if they did that? But at a certain level of selectivity one school’s decision shouldn’t influence your idea of your chances at others too much. If your next two results are also waitlists, then get worried!

aarrghhh I got waitlisted too! though looking at the stats of other people, I feel a lot better and don’t feel like a bummer.
What is it that WUSL looks for? research background? cuz I had none.

^^ I wonder that as well. I am hoping to be pre-med and I was waitlisted. To be honest, I thought I was going to be accepted. Although I am not too crushed since WUSTL wasn’t even on my top 5.

I thought my ECs and essays were decent since I got into some colleges. I did not expect to get into every school but this one really came as surprise. I thought I showed lots of ‘interest’.

yeah i got the waitlist today too
1530/1600 SAT (WUSTL doesnt consider writing to my knowledge)
750 USH 730 MATH 2
11/570 student ~ top 2%
good recs (i read them)

i dont know what else they want…
maybe i didnt display enough interest
i attended a bunch of WUSLT info meetings in Pittsburgh
it was kinda hard to visist the campus from where i live…
ehh i guess ill hold out for some ivies

I have nearly identical stats to keellotta (worse, actually, but not by much) and I was waitlisted. I’m a bit curious as to exactly what they were looking for. I don’t mean to sound bitter, by any means, but I’m just glad I wasn’t set on going to wustl. Kinda bummed all the same
