Hi,

So right now I have a 3.85 GPA at my current CC.

Before though for Fall 2011-Spring 2012, I went to a CSU.

Did horrible up there because of family problems going back and forth missing class and stuff, I got 2 F's, and 1 D.

I finally talked to a UC transfer counselor, and my CC counselor.

Both said that the 3 classes I did bad in were transferrable. But I can take courses to make up to the 2 F's, but there were no courses to make up the D.

With these CSU grades included, my overall GPA drops from a 3.85 to a 2.4.................

I also called CSU to see if they had something like an academic renewal, and they don't.

What should I do?? I can't go to a UC anymore. I feel like there's no point to continue anymore because all that hard work went to waste. I am so lost.

I need advice. :(

Make up the F’s and apply again.

Hmm that’s possible. I know for community colleges you can repeat a failed course of the same content and the UCs will take the higher grade. Example: Fail “U.S. History to 1876” at one community college and then take “U.S. History to 1876” at another community college. They’ll use the passing grade in that situation. It would depend on the type of classes he failed and if he can find an equivalent course.

I am still emailing back and forth with the UC transfer counselor I talked to.

She says the courses that she listed that are similar (Using Assist) can be used to make up the 2 F’s I got.

Actually she said that it will cancel out the previous grades of the F. And that they will use the new grade for the GPA. And this is acceptable for every UC.

Now all I have to worry about is the D for the Humanities class… lol

^Haha, so funny you mention Humanities. I failed that awful class back in 2009 (when I wasn’t taking college seriously and hardly went to class). I recently repeated it with the same professor and I got an ‘A’. REDEMPTION! Lol.

Just out of curiosity, when UCs review our applications, do they see the actual GPA (the calculated number) we have? I know this maybe a stupid question, but when we fill out those application forms and there’s no section that says our actual GPA… We only input our grades like A,B,C… for each course… but we never input the calculated GPA so yeah

I’m sure it’s automatically computed by their computers/system, but I do hope there’s a human element to it all. Personally, I made it clear in the additional comments that certain classes had been repeated for passing grades, just in case.
