I was looking for universities, actually uc's my gpa is 3.2 and I am going to take the sat in October, but I am scared of not getting accepted into uc's I am planning on applying to ucr, but what if I don't get accepted.. oh, I am scared.
Do you guys think if I can get accepted or not???
Thanks

Is 3.2 your UC weighted gpa? Did you take the psat what was your score? Here is the most recent UC published averages for Riverside–average so some could be a lot lower, some a lot higher. Also this is the UC weighted gpa, not the regular gpa.

Also, are you first generation to go to college or low income?

Admit rate — Overall 56.7%
Admits 19,797
Applicants 34,912

Averages

High School GPA 3.77
ACT Composite Score 25
SAT Critical Reading 562
SAT Mathematics 603
SAT Writing 574

Here is a better breakdown by gpa. If that is your UC gpa then you may be in the range that has a 22% acceptance rate. But if your UC gpa is weighted higher then you might be in the range that has a 55% acceptance rate.

Many students don’t get accepted to the UCs so they also apply to a range of CSU. Some of those are also pretty selective–so a range. You can also start at CC. Lots of people transfer in from CC.

You might have a chance at UCR but you need to have several backups such as some of the Cal States as suggested by BrownParent. Are you a rising Senior? If so, there is really nothing you can do about your GPA, so you would need to get a very good SAT score. As BrownParent stated, if you are set on going to a UC, then a transfer from a CC is a better choice. There are also many good Cal States and Privates that would take you with a 3.2 GPA. Good Luck.

yeah I am a senior. but I never took 9th grade. I am been living in U.S.A. for 2 years so that is all I could’ve done. but I seriously don’t want to go to community colleges it is my weighted GPA my non weighted is a 3.00. also I have taken IB chemistry and honors trig & physiology. also IB calculus.
thank you all for helping…

well, and also I had a one other question. can I go to a Cal state for only a year and then transfer, or do I have to attend a Cal state for 2 years and then transfer??

Did you take the PSAT? or any practice SAT you are getting consistent scoring with?

It is very positive that you took some IB and honors. Is English your second language then? Being able to do that is pretty good.

I’m pretty sure UC only take Jr year transfer.

Here I checked the transfer page. If you transfer from a CC you can use the TAG program to guarantee your admission
<a href=“First-Year | Apply Now | Undergraduate Admissions | UC Riverside”>http://admissions.ucr.edu/Admissions/pathsAdmissions

For transfer from another 4 year, like a CSU you have to follow the same requirements of 60 semester units. And they don’t have a TAG.

@BrownParent what does this TAG means??

TAG is the transfer program for most UC’s (except UCLA/UCB/UCSD) see link <a href=“UC Transfer Admission Planner - UC TAP | UC Admissions”>https://uctap.universityofcalifornia.edu/students/

thanks
