Ugly win, but I'll take it!

btw does anyone know why we keep running play action on 3rd and 15? What purpose does that serve?

While Mich won and I’m happy about that – preferable over the alternative, Mich is obviously not consistent enough offensively. Tough to really judge Gardner in this game. Overall though, he wasn’t good enough. Yes, way too many passes that should have been picked, any one of them would have been the difference. But, I’ll give him all the credit in the world for his work and results in OT. In a beat up state, as ThisIsMichigan stated, Gardner moved the offense single handedly. The receivers weren’t any help to him in OT when he threw more sharply. Plus, he scored the final TD when everyone knew he would keep it and run right to the open side of the field. He does have heart. I just wish there was a QB coach on the team (no I don’t count Borges as one) that would help him full time.

BTW - did Hoke really say after the game, Fitz was injured and he remains his starting running back? If so, Geez!

“Can’t disagree with our all-knowing head coach, the same guy who hired Borges, the third highest paid and 120th best offensive coordinator of college football.”

Ha, how bad did Desmond Howard want to just flat out scream “Fire Al Borges now!” during the Gameday broadcast. Too funny.

“I support the team during the game; but outside of the game, I choose to be objective and analyze based on facts. Sorry I don’t drink the koolaid.
You of all people don’t have the right to judge who’s needed in the stadium. After all, you are not even passionate enough to get to the games early to get better seats.”

Right, I disagree with you, therefore I am being illogical and just drinking the M koolaid. Shove it man. You’re act doesn’t intimidate me. Prance around on the college board about your job, and you money, and all this other “I’m better than you” crap all you want (if it is even true). No one cares.

Why is my fanhood determined by how early I get to a game? Why is my fanhood determined by how close I sit? Apparently going to every home game over the last 4 years and never leaving early doesn’t matter at all. Apparently sticking to my team while growing up in ohio doesn’t matter at all either.

YOU aren’t a student. YOU aren’t dealing with general admissions. Whatever fantastic story you come up with about how you’d wait in like for dozens of hours to sit up close, get over yourself.

Honestly, why are you even on this forum? I’m genuinely want to know.

Lol talk about hypocrisy. I don’t wear rosy glasses like you and decide to be objective when it comes to the assessment of the coaching staff and players that represent (and occasionally embarrass) my alma mater, therefore I am not needed in the stadium? Shove it man. Your act doesn’t intimidate me.

“Honestly, why are you even on this forum? I’m genuinely want to know.”
Is being an ignorant student like you a prereq to be on this board?
I am here to educate prospective students about Michigan, striking a balance with Alexandre/rjk’s more “rah rah michigan” perspective by providing a more realistic picture. I don’t mind occasionally educating someone like you too, however difficult it is to get messages across.

Ha ha ha. Educating me. That’s rich. Whatever you want to believe bud.

How have I not been objective in my assessment? I have pointed out the good and bad. Sorry if I don’t completely pile on everyone involved with the football team and ask for everyone to get canned like you. It is just pretty damn hilarious that disagreeing with you automatically makes me illogical and not listening to facts.

Maybe you are here so you can act like a big shot. Be some awe inspiring figure to prosoective freshman? Give yourself an ego boost? Idk. Too bad you didn’t go to another school so that forum would have to deal with you.

Repeating what I said, cute. I’m not trying to intimidate anyone though. I’m not walking around acting like I’m some awe inspiring figure telling some harsh truth that no one else can handle. Lol . Get over yourself. This us your theme on most every thread. I’m sure you were just awesome as a college student. Everyone around you were just idiots, they weren’t as mature, they didn’t get it. Right? Yeah… right.

As for the game…I was actually sorta impressed. I thought we were doomed because of the way we played against Michigan state and Nebraska. The coaching staff were actually fixing problems. For example…

Not using Gibbons for very long field goal attempts. This way you don’t psyche the guy out and he doesn’t really need to adjust from kick to kick. He just goes with muscle memory. He performance was great against Northwestern.

Not using Toussaint. I wish they could use him. I wish he quickly improved after his injury. He didn’t. For whatever reason, they chose underclassmen who could actually get some yards.

Hoke going for the touchdown rather than the field goal…they didn’t get it to tie the game, but it set the right tone. They’re playing to win rather than playing to “get by” like in the Penn State game.

Even Gardner is improving. His OT playing was great. While there were a lot of close calls, there were not any interceptions. I certainly would not give up on him.

The coaching staff is actually working with what they have. The Iowa game should be close. Even further improvement in the Iowa game may mean we are not embarrassed against Ohio State.

As for bearcats…I get a kick out of reading his posts. I don’t always agree. Some of them come across as arrogant, but I think college confidential is a great place to say things that aren’t easy to stomach and come across as arrogant. Honestly, you don’t have to read what he says.

Nobody should have to look at things through maize and blue glasses only…

No one is saying anyone is…

Well I guess Bearcats is saying I am, but he’s wrong.

They have also been using Wile for most of the long kicks, even last year they were. I wouldn’t call it an adjustment

Gibbons missed a 52 yard kick against penn state, and then he missed a much closer kick in the OT at penn state…this was one of the few times I’ve seen Gibbons miss anything.

They gave these type of kicks to Matt Wile in the Northwestern game. For example Wile missed a 51 yard field goal.

Perhaps it could be called an adjustment away from the beginning of this year’s strategy back to last year’s strategy…
