Uh oh, bad first semester grades

I applied to UMich 11/29, completed the app 12/10 and I'm still waiting to hear back.

My first semester grades came out and they weren't so good. My overall GPA is a 3.7 (2210 SAT), but this semester is was a 3.4 with a C+ in English. Basically my first semester grades can only hurt my chances for admission.

A friend from my school applied around the same time I did and was accepted this week without sending his grades. Is my best bet to just not send the grades and hope I get a decison before UMich asks for them? Is there a firm deadline by which all first semester grade must be submitted?

You'll only have to send those grades if you are deferred, but I highly doubt you will be.

what % of deferred applicants get in??? also, how many are offered the summer program option for gaining admission? My brother was recently deferred and wa wondering if anyone had these stats... thanks

I read somewhere that 50% of deferred applicants get in, but I'm not sure.
