i submitted my application way before the early action deadline for BC, but i just today (9 days late) submitted the payment. Will they still look at my application even though the payment was late or will it be sent to regular decision since it wasnt all there on time?

this may be a silly thing to worry about, but i would love to know what yall think!

Dear minikc123 : Your application was incomplete by the filing deadline for early action. This is one of the harsh differences between High School and College. Now, you have picked up some extra work for yourself by not following the letter of the rules.

You are best advised to contact Boston College, ask for your admissions counselor, execute a “mea culpa”, and ask what the status of your application in light of the incomplete status at the deadline might be. Our recommendation would be to have that conversation if and only if you have a better explanation than “I forgot” since such does not stamp you as really concerned about BC’s EA program.

I would hope that colleges recognize that everyone is not full pay, and they might need to wait until the “next paycheck” to pay bills. (Three or four early apps could total several hundred dollars.) That being said, I would not even hazard a guess on what BC might do. But the answer will come soon enough. You should receive a letter from Admissions with login instructions for portal/agora to check the ‘status of your app’…

I find it very frustrating when people think rules and deadlines are there for everyone else, not them! It may sound harsh, but perhaps some pre-planning should have been done. You said you submitted your application “way before the early action deadline” yet the payment was sent 9 days late. If the payment were going to be a potential problem, you should have held your application and applied regular decision. That way you could meet the deadline, instead of looking for someone to make a special exception just for you.

well thanks i appreciate the criticism but the issue was avoided, BC contacted me and accepted my payment for the ea deadline since it was the only thing missing from my app.

nervousMAmom: i couldn’t have predicted that payment would be a problem, things happen

Good for you minikc. I was keeping fingers crossed that BC would recognize that even tho 65% of its students are wealthy, the others may not be and would not hold it against you for not having finances. Stuff happens. Plus, it would be more than uncharitable, particularly for a college that claims to be seeking greater economic diversity.
