Uh Oh- Financial Aid

Hey everyone,
Can anyone tell me if the FAFSA deadline (Feb 1) was the postmark deadline to send to the government agency or whatever? Also on the deadlines on the financial aid website, it lists W-2s and tax returns for february and march. Can i still send them now?! Thanks!

I would think better later than never, but you could call the FA office and ask. You file the FAFSA online, so it’s not a postmark deadline.

February 1st is the priority deadline, which means if you apply before that date then you have priority in getting aid. You can still apply after the deadline, but try to do it as soon as possible. You’re more likely to receive more aid if you apply earlier.

We used a FAFSA help service and they told us that the date that is recorded by the schools is the date you sign off with your Government PIN number. It is like having a snail mail post mark.

blisfulting is wrong. One won’t receive more aid by applying earlier to Pomona and one won’t get priority for aid. Pomona really is need blind for students at US schools and really sticks to meeting need. That said, yes, get things in on time. Both admissions and aid staff have said they see more people holding off on aid applications until after they hear their admission decision and that is risky for students. Better to get the aid offer with the admission offer and then have the time to really sort things out.

Pomona handles this really well, but don’t wait to get things in.

Sorry I’m late guys but thanks for the help. I’m pretty sure I have all my stuff in :-P
