Uh-oh..... Rejection?

So if i haven't heard back from any schools (except for safeties), is it safe to assume i've been rejected? I mean, most of the kids who have been accepted have gotten their letter already, and the rest of the letters they mail out April 1st. Do colleges always send acceptences first, then rejections? Or am I just being another paranoid senior? ( if so I apologize)

Depends on where you applied

Stop thinking so lowly of yourself. Have confidence and don't act scared.

You're jumping the gun, wait another week before you speak

okay.... to ultimatefrisbee; i don't think low of myself, but to the schools that i've applied to, most of the acceptances have come out already, so i thought that they may send acceptences first, then rejections. To dima; will do.

The point is: There is nothing you can do so just wait it out and go do something you enjoy. A GENIUS once said: "Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but it doesn't get you anywhere. Write that down."

lol...:)

Mmm...no they have sent acceptances really late in the past I think. Just keep waiting I guess. Nothing else you can do.

yeah.... i guess that's all there is to do anyways... thanks for the replies though...

A lot of schools don't send any decisions until the end of March or the beginning of April. For example, none of the Ivies release regular decisions until this Thursday, March 30 at 5 PM eastern. So I wouldn't worry until the end of next week.

Van Wilder ownz :) but just stop worrying and expect the worse...then when you get an acceptance youll be twice as happy :)

what schools are you talking about that haven't sent you a decision yet? maybe if you listed them people could tell you if you're going to get rejected or not....

W&L, Grinnell, University of Washington....

A lot of colleges make a big deal out of mailing the decisions out all at the same time. Much of what you've seen on CC has been about ED and ED II decisions. Also, some colleges get done in the middle of March and other colleges run into the first week of April.

I have even heard of a college that mailed the acceptances a couple of days before the denials because it would take a couple of days longer for the thick packages to travel thru the mail than the small denial letters.

Wash151:

Grinnell just started sending out acceptances/rejections late last week. You should hear by Friday. Just sit tight. It'll happen.

As for UW, I just got my acceptance letter last week, and I applied early in the cycle (Decemeber). With UW, I think since they moved from using the computer to holistic review to make most of the decisions, it should take a bit longer for both acceptance/rejections to come out. UW's acceptance rate is about 67%, so I wouldn't sweat it too much.

W&L...not familiar with, although friends who have applied in previous years said mailings were not sent out in any particular order.

BTW, I have a quick question. I notice you have a conservative, small, southern, private college (W&L), a liberal, small, midwestern, private college (Grinnell), and a liberal, large, pacific northwest, public university (UWashington) all on your list. How did you compile the list and how will you decide in the end (just curious)?

Just my two cents.
IB

I can only speak of W & L. D went for GW scholarship interview 1st week of March, but has yet to hear admit status.

isle boy; UW is my state school, and I love seattle, so that's how that worked out. W&L I liked for two reasons; first it's got a great pre-law advisory program (only liberal arts college i've seen where there's a law school as well) and like you said it's small, conseravitive and a liberal arts school (3 things i'm not used to as a city kid + the people I know here loved it). Grinnell because it's just a great school that I feel is a good fit for me.

If i get in to the three then the decision will come down to what fits me the best. I'll visit them and see which one i like the most (people, place, style, etc.)

kewl.

I like Grinnell as well. Good fit. UW is also my state school. :)

You should have asked on the W&L forum about when decisions are sent and I could have told you that we are just sending/just sent out decisions and that you should get yours within a couple of days.

And yes, all decisions were sent at the same time. George Washington Honors Scholarship Finalists should hear about their status at the same time.

oh wait, nevermind - you did

I apologize
