I never really expressed much interest in Tulane. Don't get me wrong, I like the school, I just don't think I have any chances with it.

3.2 UW/3.6 W
~8 AP classes
1960 SAT/28 ACT/3xSATII not taken yet
Premed program : bio-molecular/cellular + chemistry

The weird thing is that I kept getting mail as well as e-mail from the University, all of which I ignored. But, today, a personal application came to me in the mail, even though I never asked for one.

Does this mean something, or is everyone [obviously that's not literal] getting one of these?

Not everyone, although it doesn’t mean guaranteed acceptance either. But I think you are selling yourself short. You seem to have the stats to get in. GPA is at the lower end of acceptable, but you have a lot of AP’s and clearly took tough courses. SAT/ACT certainly in the middle 50% range of typical class, although at lower end. But that means that about 25% of the accepted students had lower scores than yours. Of course, I don’t know about your EC’s and recs, but if they are decent you should get in.

Oh, I guess my ECs should probably check out [~350+ community service hours].

Other than that, thank you for the quick answer, I guess I’ll be filling this out [with some help from my counselor] and turning this in (hopefully) by Thursday/Friday.

AsadNazif, I had pretty much the exact same stats as you and the same thing happened. I applied, and I got in. So if you’re interested, you should definitely apply.

a lot of people get the application…they send it out to all on their mailing list i got one after i was accepted to the school already. It is free for anyone to apply there.

Hopefully you applied, because in comparing us, you are sure to get in. I got the free app, it was always a dream to go to Tulane so I figured why not? I only got a 23 on ACT, and 1560 on SATS and got deferred. So keep your hopes up and best of luck!

Thanks for the boost of confidence, everyone!

lecut22, don’t get worried about a deferral. I had a friend who was deferred from Yale, but still got in, and I have a friend right now who’s gotten deferred from Colombia, but he’s good enough to get into it. I guess what I’m saying is, you’re probably good enough to get in, which is why they didn’t outright reject you.

Seeing such heartwarming people is amazing. Again, thanks everyone!
