Almost everyone gets deferred manually revied for uiuc enginering and business. Also, bioengeering is probably the hardest major to get into. They only accept about 25-30 kids a year.

lol my stats sucked i got admitted in like 3 dayz to the business school..no legacy, but im the smartest blk kid in my school and im state champion in karate

are you sure it didn't say "deferred- manual review req"? because if it did indeed say that, then you haven't been given a decision. and with your stats i really don't think uiuc would defer you! (i think they usually give an admit or reject). it may also be your transcript though, because apparently they wanted everything by jan.1 or somewhere around there.

haha yeah that means an adcom still needs to manually review yours, whether it's because your school doesn't rank, all bioengineering gets manual review, or some other reason.

yeah..they told me same thing. All people did. It just a step I read it from somewhere that they accept or deny people who are extremely good or bad right away by their computer, and those who are in mid range, a human being actually read it and make decision on it.
That's what I heard. But guess what.
I am not getting my decision for 3 months. it's 4th month this month.

If you'd applied to any other major, you'd be in already. Bioengineering, because of its miniscule size, can get very picky. I can tell you that at the very least you'll be accepted to another major within engineering; bioengineering will require a bit of luck, but I like to think your chances are good, partly because I know someone admitted who has less impressive numbers than you. It's a real shame, because you would have been a shoe-in for CS or EE, the next most selective. As for essays... I can't say. I know atrocious writers who were accepted, and I was personally accepted after changing "Cornell University" to "the University of Illinois" and changing the respective program names (EE as opposed to ECE, stuff like that), so I can't see a less-than-perfect essay hurting you terribly (then again, bioE...). As for transcripts, that shouldn't matter; they got mine on the 9th and didn't care at all. Anyway, here's hoping you get in.
