Anyone going to appeal?

whatever....

this discourages me from appeal :
We strongly discourage letters of appeal unless you can provide significant new information for us to consider.

3.57 for sociology - denied.

I know it's not the highest GPA for that dept., but I can add more stuff and really awesome letters of recommendation. I might think of appealing if I can find a good enough reason. I was really hoping that my other degree in photography might help as what I am really interested in is visual sociology and I'm sure the idiot reading it, didn't pick up on how the two relate....I thought that background might make me stand out - whatev.

We all tried - that's life. At least we aim for what we want, not what we will settle for. I knew it was a competative major, but that's what I want.

I never thought this rejection would feel so good. strange to say that, actually.

I had to console my mum about it though... she wanted me to stay close. all I have to say is... OH. WELL.

to all of you awesome peoples that missed the cut... think about it in terms of which school WON YOU. your awesomeness is not measured by acceptance to cal or wherever...

$40K? Are you out-of-state? That would make more sense, since your stats look great!

wait, a question on appeals (not for me, friend who got rejected). what are the chances of getting your decision overturned? full out rejection, that is.

non-impacted major (philosophy), 3.5 GPA, no Ec's, works a little... before I tell them what I think, I'd like to make sure that my view is somewhat correct.

i say, no chance. i just don't see it happening. he really had his heart set on Cal, so I want to help him out with the appeal process. but i figured that appeals are often reserved for those with +3.8 GPA's for non-impacted majors and near perfect GPA's for impacted majors. with all pre-req's done, of course.

Rejected, 3.5, English....never expected or really wanted to get in though, so it's not a downer at all.
