My guidance counselor is worried that JHU will consider me a Pre-Med applicant, primarily due to my major of Chemistry. He believes that this will increase my difficulty of acceptance. Is there any truth to this? Is there any way to work around that possible difficulty?

Pre-med is not a major at Hopkins ... applicants do not apply to pre-med ... one's choice of an intended major will not negatively impact the review of one's application. (There are many previous discussions on all three of these points on both CC and the Hopkins Forums.)

To clarify, they ask you for a prospective major because they want to see if your interests, EC's, essays,... match up with what you put. For example, they don't want to see someone put down english, but all of their activities are chemistry related, or vice-versa, just to increase chances at acceptance.
