<p>So? What is the big deal. This is more of an indictment on the state of Illinois than it is any of the universities. The state owes the University of Illinois nearly half a billion dollars. Where else are they going to come up with the money to cover that kind of cost? It is essentially functioning as a private university right now since it gets little to no support from the state. It is no wonder tuition rates are so high compared to most other flagship publics in states not named Michigan.</p>
