What does anyone know of the University of Illinois at Chicago, Architecture program? Is it any good? What are some flaws? What are things that standout?
I think you might get more comments on the merits of the UIC’s School of Architecture if you were to post on the Architecture Careers Board of this site.
Be aware that the only undergraduate architecture degree that UIC offers is the Bachelor of Science (BS) in architecture. This is a different degree from the Bachelors OF architecture (BArch).
If you intend to become a licensed architect in the US, after getting a BS in architecture, you’d still need to get a Masters of Architecture (MArch) either at UIC or another architecture school. Usually this adds another 2.0 years, but can be more depending on the program.
If you want a professional architecture undergraduate degree you have to get the BArch which usually takes 5.0 years.
Both the BArch and the BS/BA+MArch are acceptable paths to becoming a licensed architecture, but the cost can be quite variable, especially if you need financial aid.
Thank You
